Something you had running probably had the WizUiHelper.DLL open. Make sure the recording service is off, PVRX2 is not running, no other WizUtilities are running, then try to re-install.

Shouldn't the xml reflect a relative path to the clipart, so that if the clipart is in the same directory, no path is required?

Wouldn't it be best to download the clipart and then rename it to the same name as the actual video file?

I'm thinking if it uses relative paths and identical filenames, then the avi, xml, jpg are completely portable
Initially, it worked that way, the image was downloaded to the same directory, the filename was the same as the video file (+ .jpg) and the path was relative. Someone requested to be able to select coverart from local disk, and rather than duplicate all the files, I thought I should just point to the existing file.

On reflection though, I think maybe I should copy (and rename), to keep it consistent, so that not only will server work, but the client will as well (for those who have clients), as well as the several renaming and archiving utilities...

I'll probably change this in the next version.

And I don't know if this is happening already, but are you updating the files' inherent metadata?
I thought about that, but have not implemented it yet. Also, if metadata exists in the video file, it should default to that metadata when starting up.

What do you think the priority should be?

1 existing metadata.xml
2 database
3 metadata in video file

For what it's worth, +1 on the relative paths. It lets us rearrange our libraries without having to re-do file paths to the new location (plus the reasons you mentioned.)

Oh, that version above worked better for me. I'm still having some issues with it not replacing the xml or artwork. I'm starting to suspect that I need to start over since I've used this Tool since it's first version. I probably have some mangled xml files by now. Big Grin

I'm not sure why the GB-PVR database should be a part at all. I mean, we're downloading the file, and therefore, there shoud be no information in the db3 anyway, so why look. Just a thought...

Also, I noticed soimething I didn't like (sorry)

So I have a video, that has metadata.xml and jpg. I want to make a small edit to the info, I double-click the text window to call up the edit window. My title is messed up, because it get auto populated based on the filename rather than the tag in the existing metadata.xml.

I think if data already exists, it should populate with that data...

Program works great. I have a question about the metadata...does video library display that? Right now all I am seeing is the cover art (which is great by itself Smile ). Just wondering if there's a trick to get video library to do more. If not, I use moviewiz. I just like VL because it's easier for my daughter to work it.

I think the only skin that takes advantage of the metadata right now is slick. Try that and the video library should display both cover art and metadata, but the UI is a bit different than what you are used to.

Do you know if slick comes with community skin pack?

By the way, I have to commend and compliment you on how awesome your whole software suite works and from its functionality. I recommend GBPVR to anyone who's building a DVR and always make sure they install some of your stuff.

Oh another question..

Can I run this on a non-GBPVR computer? what would I need to do?

I believe that Mayhem is currently showing a Video library that shows the metadata.

Also, I'll be releasing very very shortly a 'slick - Video Library skin' replacment that moves stuff just enough to include the original buttons and still all the other meta data and cover art

Yes, you should be able to get it to work, but you may have to copy a couple of the GBPVR Dlls over also.

Wait til the next version tho, I need to make the cover art path relative to where the movie file is, otherwise the mappings may not be correct for a different machine.
