I can see problem in the putty log but I can see the cause. While the second show was playing the mono process was killed not by GBPVR or mvpmcx2
Code:
Handle Ping
Killed
Child exit |35072|
Handle Ping
Then mvpmcx2 handles the exit but the mvpmcx2 process gets killed too which means black screen.
Code:
RDC_STOP
RDC_MENU
Display is state 0 0
Killed
I can't explain what is causing this other than a bad stream crashing the NMT hardware demux. When the second file opens I do see a message that there are 18 PES streams which seems high for a normal broadcast. The first stream is probably bad or improperly read by the PCH too, because I see dts audio which is unlikely.
The next time this happens I suggest immediately copying the file that has problems from c:\temp to a permanent folder and see if it plays properly. If it crashes too, I'd have to get it to Syabas.
Have you any ideas what could be causing a bad stream? GBPVR? A bad LNB?
The crash appeared different when starting GBPVR from a telnet session, b4 the picture used to freeze but starting GBPVR client this way just gave me a black screen. It really is bizarre but I will persevere. Thanks Ian
No sorry. All I notice is the PCH is seeing more pid's then the recording service is saying that it sees. Maybe the MDAPI filter? Whatever is causing this I'd like to get a sample to Syabas, I can't control the problem but it would be nice if it didn't crash.
Yes, and at 1/2 an hour in might be large. It's okay if you have to split it into rar or 7z 100M chunks and send it to a free upload site like megaupload, I can get it over the holidays.
I am seeing something similiar with a recording made from a BBC-HD broadcast on Astra 28.2. If I play it in GBPVR on a PCH, I get a black screen and
"Unexpected error sending frame: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException:"
message in the log. The PCH then needs a power cycle. What's interesting is that if I play the same thing on my PS3 or on the PCH(not through GBPVR) using a TVersity uPNP share, it plays perfectly.
I'm not unduly bothered as everything else plays OK and daughter has watched this now. However, if it would help resolve this, I can cut a small bit off the beginning and uploaded it? The original is a 21Gb .ts of The Chronicles of Narnia, I guess you wouldn't want it all.

trummel, I think you are having a different problem, tcmy95's problem relates to a crash while the video is playing. I can probably explain the problem if you compress and upload your logs in a new thread.
No don't worry if you think it's a different cause. As I said it's a 1 off and just thought it might help to resolve tcmy95's issue. If I get it happening again, I'll upload the logs. Otherwise consider it a red herring - or any other fish of your choosing.
