Can't seem to get the pc client going. I looked in the logs and the client can't connect to the server. Is there something I need to do on the server to get things going?

I did try Media Portal and I can get the client working there. I'm running XP SP3, firewall is disabled.

logs attached.

It never comes up. When I start the tray app, it takes a while to update the status window. I see it minimized. It comes up with the 8 empty tuners. When I try to launch PVRX2, it shows up as a white screen with a big red X through it and a .Net error. I have to kill it from the Task Manager.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Its most likely either your server name, or the database share being set incorrectly.

If you untick the client mode setting, does the app come up correctly on the client machine? This would rule out video card not being up to the Direct3D requirements etc.

Ah... I didn't share the gbpvr folder on the server....I don't think it's documented very well in the wiki, though now that I think about it it makes sense.

No the pc-client stuff isn't very well documented, I struggled a lot myself to get it going. I also found that PVRX2 on the server must be allowed through the firewall, and that is not mentioned anywhere.

I have exactly the same problem as described by Jimi. But, the gbpvr folder on the server is shared and the PVRX2 on the server is allowed through the firewall. I've tried unticking the client mode and the app comes up OK. Are there any other things that I should check?

In your config.xml you have a database connection string that contains "C:\InstalledStuff\Devnz\GBPVR\gbpvr.db3". Try replacing that string with ".\gbpvr.db3".
