Can't update recording type

As far as I can figure out I can't update the recording type of a scheduled recording. i.e if I have a record once I can't change it to record season, or I can't change a record all to record weekly etc.
Is this a known limitation, a bug to be fixed or am I doing something wrong?

Thats how its designed to work. If you need to change the type, then you need to delete and recreate the recording.

Thanks for the reply. If there's not a serious obstacle then i'd like to add it to the wish list then
Scenario 1: Heros was scheduled to record every Wednesday before Christmas. During Christmas it got shuffled to a different day but I picked it up with a manual record. Now it's not showing at all so I can't recreate a new schedule (nothing in the EPG to search for), but neither can I change it to record everything in case it comes back on a different day to Wednesday.
Scenario 2: Set something to record once. During the show it turns out it's a series I'd like to continue recording. Can't schedule the next in the series as maybe the EPG has only got 6 days in it so next episode isn't showing. Can't update the existing recording to record weekly either.

Sorry, I've got no plans to change it. It's been this way for years, and its a pain in the bit to change it.
