Glad to hear this!

The program is supposed to clear your HD44780 display when PVRX2 shuts down. Can you please post the logs? I'm getting a feeling that External Display is not shutting down properly. It's unfortunate that sub hasn't been able to implement an 'shutting down' event type, because the 'work around' I use may not be working 100%.
CFC Wrote:2) Can I run LCDSmartie on the same computer? Can ExternalDisplay take over when I launch PVRX2, and then give control back to smartie when I quit?
Sorry, I don't use LCDSmartie so cannot comment on this. But I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't work.

Iwan, I haven't forgotten about your problem - I am having problems with one of my development machines waking from standby and keeping PVRX2 running, so this is slowing me down a bit.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been having some computer issues and forgot :p.
When I get back up and running if I see the same symptoms I'll pass along the log.
Thanks,

Since ExternalDisplay in MediaPortal supports the IrTrans VFD, I thought this one must also support it. In MediaPortal, the display works fine i.c.w. DlPortIO. The display can be selected via the dropdown box and localhost needs to be selected. Nevertheless, I cannot find this entry in your version. I tried to use HD44780 but that doesn't work. I checked the sourcecode for MediaPortal but strangely couldn't find IrTrans in there, but became aware that it uses the lcdhypewrapper (http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/suppor...lem-28712/). Could this support be added?

Not sure whether this works for you, but here's what I did to get my Noritake T-series VFD working:

Look for the appropriate .dll in your MediaPortal directory (For Noritake T-series: noritake_tseries.dll) and put it in your \gbpvr\plugins\esternaldisplay\lcddrivers folder.

After doing so, the corresponding device should show up in ExternalDisplay's config app.

Good luck !

This plug in works great for the Imon LCD in my HTPC case. However, I too have issues with the hibernation. I'll try standby and see if that works..

Thanks for the effort on this plug-in. Great work.

Standby works better. All I had to do to clean up the frozen display was to use the built-in "Wake.cmd" of Pvrx2. I just had the 'wake' recall, (restart) pvrx2.exe. Bingo.

Works wonders.

Hi guys,

one question,
did anyone of you installed the iMON application?
Or do you only have to install the external display plugin?
i"m askin' this because the display does not respond to the external display program.
I've have the latest Antec Remote Fusion Black (With Soundgraph iMON IRreceiver & LCD) and have set the drivers to "soundgrapfh LCD/VFD" an port to USB.

Is this correct?
Even when I shut down the iMON app, the external display program can't connect to the display. I'm nog getting any error but still, the display does not respond.

Thx in advance,
Nick

I have tested LCDSmartie. It did work, (after lots of trouble).
But the font was really ugly. Also, not much options about the display did work. the only option that did work whas changes the text that had to be displayed and speed.

I have this one. The LCD version:

I'm guessing, this one is the VFD version:

I guess that I have to do is install the program, shut down iMON.
Then when I press "test lcd" in the plug-in option, somethingshould appear on the display.
I'vealso chosen for "soundgraph vfd/lcd plugin", forced "graphical text" and selected port "USB".
Correct?

Owyeah, when I select debugform v1.1, then I see that gbpvr sends the info the external display,
so there's no problem with the communication between gbpvr & external display.
Sometimes I also get an error that the program needs to be shut down.
Then something about JIT debugging appears. Something like this;

[The whole text is a bit to log to post here so here's the link to the txt file.]

Last time I had some sort of JIT error message was when I tried to install gbpvr.
The problem then was that I did'n had .net framework 2 installed.
But now I even got sp1 for 2, .net framework 3 and sp1 for 3.

Thx for your reply.

PS: what do you mean with "the external display plugin from memory"?
