The database connection string IS ".\gbpvr.db3" and not "C:\InstalledStuff\Devnz\GBPVR\gbpvr.db3". I.e. it was already the value that you wanted. I've attached the config.xml in a zip.

Would you like me to try installing GBPVR in the "normal" place, i.e. in the c:\Program Files folder?

Is \\Backbone\GBPVR\gbpvr.db3 visible from the client?

Short of any other ideas, it might be worth trying this.

Yes, \\Backbone\GBPVR\gbpvr.db3 is visible from the client. And, installing gbpvr in the "normal" place didn't make any difference. The attached logs.zip is from the new installation.

Sorry, I'm not really sure. I cant see an obvious cause in your logs.

Rowland,

Did you figure this out? I had the exact same issue, to the letter. The one thing I changed (and your's may be different) is that I had the absolute path defined for the Database Share under Capture Sources in the Config. I changed this to \\<PC>\GBPVR and it worked (when I shared the GBPVR folder I left it at the default share name "GBPVR").

Good luck,
-Brad

I haven't figured it out but I'm making progress. I typically install stuff in C:/InstalledStuff not in the normal C:/Program Files. At one point I re-installed the server in C:/Program Files and this allowed the client side to run, although there seemed to be a subsequent problem with watching LiveTV. I had also run regedit to remove the stuff that got left in the registry from the previous installation that I had un-installed. After first going back to C:/InstalledStuff to determine if that was the cause both server and client are now installed in C:/Program Files but it presents the original error.

I've been hoping that I would hit the right combination of installs and things would just work. I can see that I need to be more deliberate so that I can be more definitive about what configurations will work. I'll report if I find anything.

I've been experimenting installing the server and client in C:\Program Files and C:\InstalledStuff. Sometimes the client side works and sometimes it fails with symptoms presented in this thread. I had come to the conclusion that the server had to be installed in C:\Program Files but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I'm using the same uninstall/install procedure everytime I change the install directory. Anyway it works presently.

I did discover that in order to run watch LiveTV on the client side it's necessary that GBPVRRecordingService be allowed through the firewall on the server side.

Does your server ever sleep? This could be the cause of your problems.
