hello everyone!

I installed GBPVR last night after I gave up on Hauppauge WInTV.

All I wanted was to click "record" at 7pm tonight ... but that didn't really happen....

no matter how I tried it (either Manual record) or tried to schedule it wouldn;t record (would tell me I had nothing pending...)

And when I tested it this morning, I couldn't STOP it from recording! (Cancel or Stop Recording Service ... nothing)

So I tried to RTM. I read the forums. The message I got from the forum was "reboot" ... a lot .... Which is what I did.

Can anyone give me an IDIOT-PROOF step by step for how to record something right now?

That's all I really want.

BTW I love the look of everything, the skins the whole thing. But really I need to be able to record if possible.

thanks!!Big Grin

XP SP2, latest GBPVR, Hauppauge 1800 HDTV
forgot to mention: I can surf channels so the card is working. thanks

Try doing a recording, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

hey sub, here's the most recent logs.

Something weird: in Live TV mode the picture and sound is great, but on ALL channels the sound degrades after about 10 seconds. If I change the channel - same thing. If I change back to the original degraded channel it is fine for 10seconds or so then gets 'choppy' and the screen also starts stuttering.

thanks!

You didnt include the recording service logs, so these logs wont show any recording problems.

This is most likely caused by the combination of audio and video decoders you're using. I see you've still got these set to 'system default' (and its picking the Intervideo decoders). Try some other decoders.

sorry for not sending complete logs ... where do I find the logs you need?

Regarding default settings... I tried "MPEG Video Decoder" instead of Intervideo but still got the problem (sound and video fine for 5-10 seconds... then sound breaks up and video stutters and dies. But if I change channel it's ok ... for a few seconds again)

One more thing: Kaspersky always complains when I run PVRX2 ...
Proactive Defense - Keylogger detected. Process is trying to redirect keyboard input ... etc etc.
I click "allow"...

They should all be in the same folder (as the one's you uploaded earlier).

The recording service ones are:
GBPVRRecordingService.exe-N.log & GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native-N.log

Recording & Playback: Core2Duo 2.4Ghz, NVIDIA 9800GT, Nova-HD-S2, Cyberlink Decoders, WinXP SP3, GB-PVR 1.3.11
Playback 2: HP Pavillion Turion 64, Windows 7 RTM, (File Sharing Client Mode)

Yep, what he said.

What others have you tried? That decoder doesnt work for a lot of users.

Sorry, I dont know. I'm guessing its some false-positive in Kaspersky. I've never seen anyone else report this, so its not really worth looking into.

He didn't say uninstall your filters - he said select different ones using config.exe on the playback tab. A decent set to use are the FFDShow filters (from K-Lite codec pack)

hello again..... I finally got through to Hauppauge ... the guy suggested I move the card to a different PCI slot. Solved - thank you!

ON A SAD NOTE - I actually managed to record 24 tonight BUT I rather foolishly thought I was clearing up an unneeded Pending recording ..... ... clicked delete and it deleted the actual 6gb file of 24!

I am wondering why it did a <shift> delete and did not drop it in my Recycled Bin. Oh well I know for next time
