also what imon display do you have i think it may only work on the 16x2 (the older simple type) not 100% sure its been ages since i changed it
I think stustunz is getting confused with another plugin as he has not been involved with the development of this plugin!

kindt nick Wrote:Hi guys,

one question,
did anyone of you installed the iMON application?
Or do you only have to install the external display plugin?
i"m askin' this because the display does not respond to the external display program.
I've have the latest Antec Remote Fusion Black (With Soundgraph iMON IRreceiver & LCD) and have set the drivers to "soundgrapfh LCD/VFD" an port to USB.

Is this correct?
Even when I shut down the iMON app, the external display program can't connect to the display. I'm nog getting any error but still, the display does not respond.

Thx in advance,

Nick:
Firstly, it's been ages since I've looked at this plugin, first posted around 12 months ago and I may have forgotten a few things!

Firstly, regarding iMON, I think the code handles if iMON is running or not, but just in case, you could try to have iMON shut down before starting GBPVR. You might also need to set the 'external application uses iMON' (or somthing similar) setting in iMON.

Secondly, I'm not sure where the JIT errors are coming from. Posting GBPVR and externaldisplay config logs might help. Also, you could try deleting the externaldisplayconfig.xml file, and rerunning the externaldisplayconfig. If the JIT errors are occuring during shutdown of GBPVR, then this is a known limitation (second dot point in the original post)

Hey,

correct, External Display apparently automatically activates the option that iMON does not take control of the display when it is started.

The link between gpbvr and external display works.
(That, I can see when I select debug-plugin.)
The problem is that External Display does not take control the display.

Ow, I re-installed external display and now the errormessage does not
appear.

Nick

PS: I don't mean to be rude, but is it possible to release the source code of the plugins and ExternalDisplay? I'm an embedded system designer so I know my way into programming. Except I’ve never created software for PC. I don't know what library's I got to load, etc.
Basically, I don’t know where to begin. And I really would like that the display works. It would make my HPTC complete. I really want to learn it but I need a basis to begin with. If it's possible...

I'm trying to decide whether to get an external display for by HTPC running Vista and GBPVR. There seem to be 3 on the market that all seam to be the same one but re branded:

Imon VFD (The "Original")
Antec Multimedia Station Elite Internal IR Receiver w/ VFD and Remote - VERIS ELITE
Thermaltake A2331 MediaLAB with Remote Control

All look appear similar with 2x16 displays and have the same remote and claim to use the IMedian software, but seem to vary a lot in price. Does anyone out there think there is a strong reason to lean towards one or the other? The Antec Elite is notably cheaper followed by Thermaltake.

Are folks having success using the remotes with GBPVR and this or other plugins. Are the remotes reliable troublesome to use (Need to point it really well)?

Are folks able to get the display to show meaning info like current position and time of the recordings? Or just things like name of the recordings?

Thanks I'm sorry if this is being discussed somewhere else, but I couldn't find a thread on this subject.

Please see here for a new release of ExternalDisplay.

I use the iMON remote extensively now that my Hauppuage remote is intermittent. The pad takes bit of getting used to if you use it as a mouse, but I have no problems, and it intergrates well with PVRX2, controlling virtually everything we need in our household.

Howard
Display of position of the recording is not implemented in this plugin, since PVRX2 doesn't make this information to plugins. However, this information is available when playing music, and is displayed accodingly.

Thanks for the reply. I'm still confused why the Antec elite is in general so much cheaper then the imon vfd. I'm also starting to think that the VFD doesn't have enough s/w features enabled to justify its cost vs just a regular windows remote...
