Download Beyond TV or SageTV, and set them up. You'll see what I mean. All the settings are right there in the install, and its obvious and intuitive what to do.
I have tried sagetv sometime ago and although it might have changed, the epg was only easy to set up if you were living within the USA. Anywhere else involved jumping through hoops, to get epg especially if you had more than one card with different epg listings.
I agree with you gbpvr can be difficult to set up at first but it has gotten easier, especially for people like me who do not read manuals/wiki unless stuck. But to be fair with such a wide range of cards and setups out there this would never be easy. On another note generally once gbpvr is setup you do not have to touch it again
