Greetings all! Long time lurker and searcher here, but I have not found the simple answer I was looking for.

I searched the WIKI for hours, and have found good relevent info, just not what I need to know to make this work correctly.

I am trying to get my Hauppauge HVR1600 remote to control GBPVR.

I am starting from scratch for the third time around, nothing is installed, no drivers, not the 1600, nothing at all besides my basic drivers and video card drivers.

Windows XP, rig specs in my signature...

So what needs to be installed and in what order? If I have overlooked a tutorial somewhere, I apologize, I have searched for hours. Can someone please give me step by step instructions, or point me to a helpful tutorial that explains this in GREAT detail?

I really appreciate any help I can get, thanks

Well, after following the WIKI, this is what I have come up with, it must be wrong.

I have installed the IR32.exe driver, disabled it, and installed GBPVR. The wiki says it will automatically change the irremote.ini so that it works by default with the Hauupage 45 button remote.

I then reset to restart ir.exe, and nothing changed.

I copied the irremote.ini both before GBPVR, and after, identical file. Nothing was changed.

Also, following the WIKI, i changed the default green power button to the correct directory on my pc, which is in the :

c:/Program Files/

directory, and apparently you cannot have a space, or irremote.ini just looks for c:/Programs and gives an error.

Isnt anyone else using windows xp? The default programs directory is c:/program files .....

This is weird...

In the config app you should hit the button 'Fix for Hauppauge 45 button remote' EDIT: sorry, the button says 'Fix Hauppauge Remote Settings (45 button remote). It's under DVD & Remote tab in config

You need to use the old 8.3 naming style ie. c:\progra~1\

See maybe the Wiki needs to be updated, I am sure more people have found this to be extremely frustrating also.

I am not familiar with that naming style, where would I put that symbol in?

Also, I did check the "fix hauppauge 45 button" box under misc in config, rebooted, and nothing changed. I checked the irremote.ini and it was completely unchanged.

I supposed the irremote.ini needs to be updated manually? Can anyone post the code for the file if its possible? Thanks, or let me know if you have more ideas.

It adds in all the default settings when you clicked this. If you'd manually added in this 'GRNPOWER={blah blah blah...}' thing mentioned in the wiki, then this setting would remain unchanged by clicking the "fix hauppauge 45 button" since GB-PVR doesnt attempt to set the GRNPOWER setting in the ini file.

just to try and help out here.

your irremote.ini lives in c:\windows

easiest way to view it is to click on start, run, then enter c:\windows\irremote.ini

when you click the "fix" button in config.exe, it adds a [GB-PVR] section to the end of the irremote.ini file. that's all it does.

When you then select restart IR from the Hauppague\wintv folder, it restarts ir.exe that should load in the new settings. No need to reboot the pc here.

I had the EXACT same problem when I installed GBPVR a few weeks ago.

Turns out, a re-install of ALL the hauppauge apps did the trick.
Just re-installing the IR apps did not do what was expected.

(When I say ALL the hauppauge apps, I mean the stupid WinTV
and WinTV2000 apps too.)

As another data point, I was using the BETA device drivers from the hauppauge site and not the drivers from the install CD.

Thank you that was very helpful. I knew where the irremote.ini files was located, as I have been comparing it before and after it was supposedly modified. But your code there helped a ton! For some reason GBPVR wasnt updating the irremote.ini file.
