Shutdown after record

Is there a way to shutdown after a recording has completed. When i say shutdown I mean shutdown the pc. I have read numerous posts but have yet to locate one that says someone has done this.

GB-PVR does not attempt to shutdown a machine after recording. It has no way to know what other things are occurring in the machine.

You can however configure your windows box to shutdown/hibernate/standby after x minutes of inactivity.

I do this very successfully with standard Windows power saving (set to 10 minutes).

The problem with asking for the PC to shut down after recording is if someone else is viewing on a remote PC or media box.

Sub - I believe this should be an option for those who know nothing else will be occurring on the pc. In this type of scenario GBPVR need not know what else is running on the pc only that it needs to shutdown after the recording is complete.

martint123 - But if you know that noone else will be watching then this is a non-issue.

The feature would be similar to newsreaders that shutdown the pc when they are done downloading.

Maybe I'm missing something here but I don't see why this couldn't be an option for those who would make good use of it.

Let me rephrase so it's more specific. The option I'm looking for is to shutdown the pc after a scheduled recording. In this scenario, the start and stop times are known and I believe stored for the recording, including the padding for the show. I believe with this more specific scenario it is feasible to implement an option that allows a user to say "shutdown when all scheduled recordings are finished".

Ok I looked into it more to post more detailed information. The start time for a scheduled recording is stored as manual_start_time and the end time is stored as manual_end_time
in the RECORDING_SCHEDULE table.

Therefore an option to shutdown after scheduled recording could take the latest scheduled manual_end_time and set the shutdown to occur x mins after that time. Of course if shows were deleted, then the set shutdown would be recalculated and set based on the latest manual_end_time again. Also, if the user deletes the last scheduled recording then the scheduled shutdown would also be deleted. This could be a manual option that a user could choose to set when they schedule a recording (like a checkbox).

Sorry, but I really dont want to have GB-PVR tell the machine to shutdown. You'll need to find some external solution if you need to do this.

Well I didn't really expect that kind of response considering I'm probably not the only one that would like this option. However, I understand that it's your decision to make.

Hmmmm maybe I'll write a plugin that provides this feature.
