I'm having a peculiar problem whereby the audio on some channels doesn't play when using ffdshow audio codec. I also have cyberlink powercinema audio codecs, and when using these I don't have the problem.
My hunch is that the channels which don't work are using a different audio format than the other channels. I would like to confirm this. Is there any way I can find out what it is?

As an example, on the European Astra satellite that broadcasts BBC world news, CNN, and Euronews, only the first of these has audible audio when using ffdshow codecs.

Thanks in advance.

If you do a recording on the channels, you can run it through mediainfo
(http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/) to show the audio & video stream formats.

You could also try looking them up on http://www.satcodx.com/ - I think you'll find the problem could be that CNN and Euronews are mono.

Thanks for your reply - I think you're right, and it is the mono which it's not handling correctly.

pressing Ctrl-O during live TV will give a little info about the audio and video (audio encoding, video encoding, video resolution), but I don't know if it would tell you if the sound is mono or not.
