Fatal error during installation

For some reason, after installing the latest version, I can't use the Start/Programs menu without getting a 'Problem with Shortcut' error that says 'Fatal error during installation.
I know I can change the path in the start menu but just curious why/how this happened. Everything seems to be in the right place in the directory and so far, works fine. I didn't have any problems during installation that I know of.

Well, I tried a repair install to set things straight and get a 'Fatal Error' Installation ended prematurely because of an error.
Guess I'll uninstall and start over. Can't figure out why this is happening.

I experienced the same problem. After some digging, it appears the gbpvr service is not being removed during the uninstall (with a reboot afterward).
It appears the installation script is failing trying to install the service as it already exists.

The service can be removed manually using the service controller command from a command prompt:

sc delete "gb-pvr recording service"

The msi installation proceeded normally once the service was removed.

Still a recurring problem with every attempted gbpvr upgrade all these years later & even under Vista 64 - but same workaround still applies & works
