I'm new at this, so apologies up front.

Have GBPVR 1.3.11 and on my PC everything is sweet. Watched TVNZ Sports Extra all day, record, playback, everything seems OK.

But I have my tele hooked up via MediaMVP and have specified the Cyberlink mux on Misc 2 tab. (Mux checker says thats the only mux I have and it is version 5.0.2221)

My understanding (having spent most of the weekend tracking through existing threads) is that this will cause GBPVR to record everything as MPEG-2 files (mpg).

However, when I record something like TVNZ 7 it always records .ts and transcoding fails both when I try to watch via the MVP, and when I manually try to transcode the file.

I may not be reading the attached logs correctly, but it looks like it acknowledges my choice of Cyberlink, but then goes on to specify the TS Mux?

I'd appreciate any help!

You can only record MPEG2 channels into .mpg file, so if you're recording an H.264 channel (like NZFreeview HD), then it has to record to a .ts file. The MediaMVP will not be able to play this type of file.

The DVB-S satellite version of Freeview is MPEG2, and would have recorded to a .mpg file with the Cyberlink mux, and would have been playable on your MVP.

Cheers, sub.

That takes care of that part, now to conquer the transcoding which, as I understand it, is outside your bailiwick?

Unfortunately GB-PVR is currently unable to transcode Freeview HD recordings. The utility GB-PVR uses for doing transcodes (ffmpeg.exe) doesnt understand the HE-AAC audio format they chose for use in NZ. This is a very new format, only currently used in NZ and Norway.
