V1.3.11, channel changer not working for scheduled recordings

Well sub I give up !! I re installed my old copy of girder and its all rowking !!

I wanted to go the freeware route....... but my god I just could not get it working from the scheduler.

I dont know if you are interested at all, but is there anyway the schedular could work a little different when calling the .exe channel changer .... I dont know how, but to allow events to be called in the current desktop as the current user ??

Anyway..... working again for now... but itching to get back to eventghost, its really cool...and very very fast.

Sorry, but no. There would be no easy way for me to do that since recording service runs as a service, not as a user process on the desktop. I also dont really see the point in me making changes to work around this bug in EventGhost - you'd be better off asking the EventGhost people to fix it. There is nothing wrong with GB-PVR, it's running the executable you asked it to run, and supplying the correct arguments.

Im going to have a look at compiling my .exe with elevated privelages, also going to give the gbpvrrecording service administrative privelages and might even give evenghost admin privelages as well while I'm at it.

I'll try HIP and probably stick with it, just find myself on a mission now to get eventghost working.

By the way, I wasnt critisising how gbpvr works, not at all... just asking the questions to try and get a better understanding.

The learning curve is steep !!!

OK, I fully grasp the concept of desktops within windows, and how services work.

The recordingservice runs as a service because it needs to run even if nobody is logged on. Its running as the user "system" I presume.

OK .... I need to re-write my app I think !!

Sub, thanks for the help .... I'll put this one to bed now and put another quick thread up here when i figure out how to make it work, just incase it helps anybody uasing eventghost.

Fixed it !!

A quick post incase anybody is interested.

I finally managed to get the recordingservice interacting with eventghost. Unfortunately ticking the "enable service to interact with desktop" didn't work and I ended up re-writing my app to send the channel number to an intermidiate file and simply have eventghost monitor for the change and then blast out the channel number.

It works a treat.

Like to say thanks to sub for his help and (without realising it) making me read about services, desktops and user priveleges.
