I am looking to rebuild my PC to replace the existing IDE HDD with the Adaptec SATA Raid 0 setup to increase HDD speed.

My intention is to install windows and GBPVR from scratch and then top copy the original GBPVR directory back over the top, is this a viable option, or is there a better way?

I generally just copy the database and config.xml back down over a new install.

You did keep a list of all the tweaks outside of gbpvr that you have made Smile

Shared directories, quartz.dll versions, the mpeg2data.ax & PsisDecd.dll patches for Hauppauge wintv products............

Martin

Yes have most of the tweaks, I also have an image using Acronis True image which I wanted to use but having trouble in getting the boot disc to recognise the Adaptec Sata Raid Controller, it knows its there as will use it as a source but not for recovering to.

I will also have the original disc so all will not be lost if it all goes wrong.

Here's an idea.
Leave the OS install as it is on the current IDE drive.
Install the two SATA drives in Raid 0.
Use the new faster drive for storing your video files and recordings.

I'd hesitate on upgrading my machine until I knew I could image and restore it. I think I'd wait until Acronis brought out a driver or boot image. When I tried Acronis 2009 it didn't recognise my main drive, so that got the boot and I went back to the older version.

I think I'd also consider keeping the O/S and software on your IDE drive and just use the new ones for recordings. I have an internal (but hung outside at the moment!) SATA drive for recordings and an external, same-size USB drive that I synchronise daily as a backup. I don't have enough connections for RAIDing stuff, plus the fact I can take the USB drive to my main machine and do some serious videoredo editing out of adverts and the like.

this is how it's set up at present, but the IDE speed is approx 1/3rd that of the Raid ) SATA and think it maybe causing me a few issues.

All sorted, found a copy of Norton Ghost 8 at work as luck would have it, and it sees the Adaptec card and drives fine, just copying my recordigs backover now.
