I've tried to get my NMT (A100) working with GBPVR. After several hours failing to do it by hand I decided to enable simple file sharing (I normally use username & password) and enabled the guest account. I ran the NMTInstall.exe and everything seemed fine. I used the NMT to browse to my new share and selected the second GBPVR option. The moment I do so the screen goes black and I have to reboot my NMT.

Having messed around with the files for hours earlier I decided to have a look at startmeup and changed it from the default to 720p / 50Hz to match my settings but it hasn't helped.

Can anyone suggest anything for me to try?

My GBPVR system is running XP Pro with SP3, with GBPVR v1.3.11.

At this point I would telnet the the PCH and issue the command

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2

and check for errors. Capturing the screen and uploading it would be best.

Connecting To 192.168.173.48...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

However http://192.168.173.48:8883/network_share.html in my browser does work.

If telnet is not installed that would most likely be a share permission's issue. One common mistake on Windows is to create a share and drap and drop files into the share. Permissions are not set when a file is moved. You might need to highlight the files and manually set a guest share. Then again on XP many people have tweaked their network settings and registry so that a guest share is impossible and you might need a name share.

I didn't create the share. I deleted the share I used when trying to do it by hand. I deleted the mvpmc folder and then ran NMTInstall. It created the folder and the share. I can browse to the folder share using the NMT browser.

I don't understand how telnet gets started. I don't have a disk in my NMT. Is that a problem?

Telnet would get loaded when you used the network browser to access GBPVR if the guest share is working properly. Have a look at the share.log folder in mvpmc and if it doesn't contain personal information compress and upload it and I will have a look.

I believe the best way to use the PCH is without a hard disk, quieter, cheaper, cooler, and redundant in homes where a network can be used, so no it is not a problem.

Ah! I didn't realise that the PCH was still running. I assumed it had locked up so I only tried to telnet before browsing.

Anyway I've attached the log produced by running the telnet command.

It doesn't look like your monitor supports 50 Mhz, it looks more like a computer monitor to the PCH. I'd suggest adding --frequency 60

Changing to 60Hz has made the GBPVR screens appear but whenever I try to watch a tv programme recorded by GBPVR (or live tv) the TV reports it's switching to 720p @ 50Hz and the NMT starts buffering only to report it can't play.

I've just changed the video setting for the NMT from 720p @ 50Hz to 720p @ 60Hz but I'm still getting Could not play after starting buffering.

The NMT software might be able to play at 50 Mhz so that proably isn't the issue. Compress and upload your GBPVR logs so we can have a look.
