I have uploaded a new version of mvpmc2 which I believe is the first big step in making the NMT a richer GB-PVR client. Anyone with component, composite or svideo output will be able to immediately see improvements in mp3 audio playback. The full GB-PVR UI will be available during playback so you can select new music, run slide-shows, or have a screen saver, just like the MVP or PC client. If the file is not an mp3, the NMT player will be used.

Notes

The usage instructions are straight forward (HDMI is not supported)

- Obtain newer version of PVRx2 dated Feb. 6 or newer here's one http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=25

- change to use the new PCH2 type <MVPClientType>PCH2</MVPClientType>

- Play your audio files and have fun. I have not implemented Pause yet but Mute should be working

- If you use the USB Eject key when selecting Internet Radio the stream will be consider an aac+ stream

Feedback Wanted

Please leave me any feedback good or bad, but don't ask when HDMI support will be added or a new version will be released. Before posting if you try and play an mp3 file and the NMT player starts, you have an older PVRx2.exe, mvpmcx2, HDMI has been detected or the PCH2 mode is not selected.

Download

I have uploaded the file to http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/mvpmcx2a.7z I have decided to use 7-zip format for all future distributions (available from http://www.7-zip.org/ ) This may not be a popular decision, but does a much better job at compressing mvpmcx2 and I don't like defacto standards. Old timers like me will remember pkarc and lha

Beta Testers Wanted

I am also looking for a few more beta testers to help move from here as I start to implement some video changes. It will be private beta and rough for a bit but one condition is you use this trial version as a standard. Public trials will occur later. PM me with your email address (that can be shared with other testers) and I will get back to you. A huge thank you to Sheik Yerbouti and to Brainstormer for helping get to where we are now.

The goal of this next phase of development is to work with sub to take advantages of GB-PVR power in media playing where appropriate especially as it relates to mpeg video and audio streaming. The NMT players do a really good job with DVD, BD quality video, mkv's, avi, etc that I will not attempt to change how these work, but I want to improve others.

Martin this is working fine, just missed the quote above so I was trying to play flacs. Nearly all my music is in FLAC format.

cheers...Ian

I understand since I am in the same boat and I asked sub if he could support FLAC in this new mode better using the playlists, but at least they play. The PCH doesn't support FLAC or vorbis audio natively so I need to code this myself. I will let the beta group dictate priority since first and foremost using this version is important.

I do get mp3 playback correctly but I am having an issue with changing channels in livetv. I am new to the NMT but I was not having the issues with the current version installed when using the dummie guide. I can start livetv which plays fine but when I attempt a channel change I get a black screen which requires me to power cycle the NMT.

I actually don't see the PCH disconnect in those logs, so it tough. I probably need to see what is showing via telnet, I just tried to do this and changed 25 channels up with no problem. Maybe change the default MVP skin to CS3 too I read somewhere there could be problems and if that fails try the blue skin for the MVP

Yep I understand, FLAC support would be nice but I think the priority will be more towards the TV support. Anyway nice work Martin it is a huge step forward.
