Did you edit the default startmeup file. You shouldn't need anything on the command line with that setting. If telnet to your PCH and type cat /tmp/current_tv it should show 8 for your settings on component and 12 if you have HDMI.

I did, somewhere in the wiki said do that.
Note the lines i changed.

#echo "Shell to mvpmcx2 "

#remove the # from most appropriate line

# TV settings as setup

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 &

# Analog TV settings

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m ntsc &
#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m pal &

# HDMI/DVI settings examples

#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 720 &
#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 720 --frequency 50 &

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080i &
#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080i --frequency 50 &
#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080p &

you only need to enable one of /etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 entries. Put a hash in front of all of these entries except for the one you are using. I am not sure what the result is if you execute mvpmcx multiple times. It may only use the first one that was started.

I never maintained the wiki but it was never kept up to date so please don't use it. Using command line options is now pretty much unnecessary.

mvpmcx2 running multiple times will fail, basically -m ntsc exits restarting the PCH browser gaya and then mvpmcx2 tries to run with gaya running, and mvpmcx2 is smart enough to kill gaya but it is not expecting gaya to be loading.

The question is i have removed the hash from the following line and hashed everything else.
This is what i have.
/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080i &
So how do I run it again so this setting takes effect? Do i need to reset PCH or the PC? If i uninstall the software from PC, and re-install will it work with my PCH?
What is gaga?

I would suggest restarting the PCH, it isn't always required but it guarantees that a previous incorrect setting wasn't getting in the way.

It actually would help me help you more if you answered my questions and tried some of the things I asked. Gaya is the NMT browser.

My PCH was messed up. It would not play some movies, or just go to freeze mode, when i restart it would show green. I rebooted it by unplugging power, leaving for few seconds, and same symptoms. I re-installed NMT Apps and it started to play my movies from my computer ok.
Does the script (where you put in the mac address of PCH) write anything to PCH?
Having those 2 lines un-hashed, did it mess up the PCH settings (written on hard drive some place)?

And to answer your question, when i run the GBPVR install program, does it install telnet on my PCH?

thanks a lot Mvallevand.

The PCH client (mvpmcx2) does not change your hardware or write to firmware flash at all. However, if your override the safe defaults and install the wrong setup like you did with the NTSC setting, you could end up crashing your PCH which is why I have asked you to return startmeup to just show as /etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2.

Also the NMT apps stored on the hard disk are not touched or changed in any way, however the effect of a crash could conceivably corrupt a hard disk. The lack of proper disk management tools (fsck) is one of my biggest beef's about the PCH since it negates several of the benefits of using a linux ext2 filesystem. Crashing with the client is no worse than power-offing the PCH with the switch or hanging during video play.

I actually can’t explain why re-installing the apps made a difference, perhaps some files your cache were corrupt (the GBPVR client doesn’t use this cache either)

Anyway, to summarize where we are now, since I think you are close:

- telnet is not required, but I like it for debugging purposes. Using lundman's busybox is fine
- edit startmeup to include just the following one line using the linux editor you used before
/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 &
- power on your PCH and try to load the GB-PVR html file from the share you created.
- at this point if it doesn't work compress and upload all the GBPVR log files (by default stored in
C:\Program Files\devnz\GBPVR\logs )
