unable to get any client to work

sorry for posting this - i know others have posted issues about getting their client(s) to work but i don't understand why on a machine where gbpvr client was working - it no longer works. I get the stuttering effect on audio and video.

then i tried to uninstall and reinstall - now i can't even install gbpvr - get an error message "install finished prematurely due to an error."
even after reboots and cleaning the registry, i can't install gbpvr.

my other problem is, what is the best configuration for the client. which codecs have been known to work? i have ffdshow installed but no luck. over wireless, the video and audio stutter. over wired, the video stutters.

i've gotten no where with with a client to work and it is not like there's any CPU contention on the laptop or the media center.

please provide any help in getting a client to work.. WHat is the magic wand ?

after a clean install, I was able to get two clients to work.

however, I do have a question on a laptop that is running a wireless network.
when I play a recording, as part of the video library, it works fine. but when i play it from the recording menu, it starts out fine and then begins to stagger... can this be fixed? Do i need to do anything with the livetv buffer?

Sorry, GB-PVR's client stuff is known to not work well on wireless networks. Some of the thirdparty components I used are designed for reading off the local file system, and the high latency of wireless is enough to make it work like crap.

thanks sub - i know it not to work well on wireless but thought i'd ask.
anyway, I'm happy with accessing the recordings as a file from the "video library" for now. i'll try this on a wireless N network as soon as i upgrade my wireless g.
