OH MY GOD! You wouldn't dare... I'm slowly becoming a niche programmer. I may be the last one

New version of guidePlus enhancer (.4) on the wiki.

This one reads the GBPVR.db3 file and finds any pending recordings or existing recordings that are series and does TVRage lookup to get season and episode numbers for enhancement (in addition to those already in the showDetail.txt file). This allows first time users to get season episode numbers for relevant shows without creating a starting showDetail file. (Zehd feel free to steal the idea if you aren't already using it in Ultra :0)

Also fixes a small bug where some inactive series info was still being dl'd from the internet when un-necessary.

Released.

Small bug fix that fixed shows that TVRage added a year after the title (e.g. The Beast (2009) ) which caused season /episode lookups to work incorrectly only every other day

Released on the wiki.

New features:

File renaming: renames series files to replace the date string with the season episode string. (eg from: Monk_20082323_12231234.mpg to Monk_s3e5.mpg. It does this during the epg update not post process so it will clean up all your series at once.

Existing recording description augment. If you have an existing recording that is part of a series it will pre-pend the season string to the subtitle and pre-pend the air date to the description. This addition is because existing recordings retained their description since they are not in the new EPG.

Added a (us) to the TVRage search. This will give preference of US series over other countries (eg Eleventh Hour, The Office). If you use this elsewhere and need a preference setting let me know - it may be one where you can over-ride in the show file if that is necessary.

Wow two in a day -

Added a new feature where it re-groups series together based on their title. This is helpful when a) you have imported a file using vidImport (make sure the file name is something like Fringe.s2e5) or you have some recordings with the * (for a new episode) and some without. In this case it will regroup everything into a single group with the correct name. It does this on epg update so the day a show is recorded it will be in its own group and then after update it will merge into the group. It only does this on shows where the subtitle starts with a recognizable season string (eg subtitle = "s2e04: this is the text of the subtitle). This season string is created by both vidImport and guidePlus.

Since it is now writing directly to the database remember to backup or use vidImport if the dbase gets messed up. Then report the bug.

Hey carpeVideo -

Just wanted to say thanks for doing this. I just installed and ran using the renamer, and it did manage to rename several recordings successfully. I had been trying to get Ultra to work for renaming recordings months ago to no avail.

FYI I'm not using GBPVR front end at all, purely as a recorder to feed a NAS. XBMC is my PVR front-end -- getting the shows renamed to a sXXeXX format is all I really needed to accomplish (to get the XBMC library scrapers to work) and it looks like your tool will do nicely!

Fixes issue where gp prepended "The " to shows with very short names.

On the wiki

Improved series searches, short filenames like V are better handled (not sure why TVRage returns ghost stories as the first best match for a search on "V") and those series with multiple runs. (eg Battlestar Galactica) are handled better as well.
