I'm trying to figure out the best way to integrate TMT into GBPVR when using a Hauppauge 1600 remote. Whurlston wrote the following explanation of the TMT MCE "plugin" a while back:

Quote:TMT does not actually "integrate" with VMC. Instead it launches a version of TMT that is skinned to look like VMC and it runs on top of VMC. The executable is uMceDVDPlayer.exe and is located in the TMT folder. TMT can be launched from GBPVR by setting a custom task. Your remote should still work on TMT as it did before. Once you get GBPVR set up, just go to the "Plugins" tab of the config to add a custom task.

In short the TMT plugin responds to MCE/VMC commands. (Do VMC and MCE use the same commands?) I have a Harmony 659 remote and could add MCE as a player but I would like to be able to switch into TMT through the GBPVR menu. I believe I already have used all of the available 659 function positions anyhow.

I am wondering if I can configure Hauppauge remote to send both MCE and GBPVR commands at the same time? (I assume I would just edit the Hauppauge remote.ini file under the Windows directory to do that.) Would that cause problems? Would I be better off using HIP? I appreciate any thoughts.

I have a set top box so I am using the Hauppauge blaster. I understand HIP cannot control the Blaster but can it pick up the Hauppauge RF signal?

I don't even know what TMT is, and I'm only guessing the VMC is Vista Media Center, but I'm very familiar with the Hauppauge remote. The Hauppauge remote is very powerful. Basic operation sends commands to the window in focus. Each time focus changes to a new window, a new set of commands is used for the keys on the remote. If PVRX2 has focus, the keys defined for that app are used. If you shell out to PowerDVD, then the commands for that app are used, etc.

A more sophisticated use of the Hauppauge remote allows you to send commands to windows that do not have focus. As to your question, I can't think why anyone would want to send both MCE and GBPVR commands at the same time, but yes it's possible, however, I think you would confuse the app that had focus when it received commands for another app.

Here is a link to details about the irremote.ini file.

Thanks dennit. You are right VMC is Vista Media Center. TMT is Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre. Sorry, I've been reading a lot of this stuff.

I did not realize the Hauppauge remote could change focus and key function so I assumed I had send both sets of commands at all times.

Since the TMT plugin responds to VMC commands, I assume it should be no problem to set it up using the irremote commands. (Famous last words.)

I really appreciate the reference. Is it possible to add it to the GBPVR wiki?

No, there's a section of the irremote.ini file for each program you want to control. That section has mappings unique for that program. Thare's also a default set of mappings.

You can just copy the VMC section and put it in a new section for TMT (you just have to identify the name of its window.)

I don't have access to the wiki.
