Hi Sub,

I'm trying to get the HVR-1200 working on my new Vista rig, and have difficulty getting GBPVR to line up the dots.

I keep getting errors in GBPVR about the encoder not working.

Code:

and checked using directshow that I can manually build a working graph (attached image) that writes an mpeg file to the desktop.

So what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

I'm afraid getting these non-MPEG2 encoder cards working is a bit hit or miss. This graph you've made isnt correct though. It'll write data to your mpg file, but it isnt a MPEG video, it'd just be raw video frames, and you wont be able to play it.

Hi Sub,

I agree with hit or miss.

I do get an MPEG-2 file though, so the Soft MCE encorder is working -- is there any way to look deeper as to how GBPVR builds the graph?

Thanks,
Dane

Yes, you're right. I looked at the graph, and didnt realise that last filter was MCE encoder. I thought it was justa file writer, because GraphEdit didnt show the filtername.

It may not help, but try ading the following to your card definition:

ARCHITECTURE=88X

adding the architecture line to my direct.ini got live tv working for me!

Sub thank you so much for all that you do.

Hi Sub,

I'm almost there, but still have some difficulties...

The graph is now writing files with video, but I can't get the audio pins connected. I kept getting "filter not found" errors after adding the ARCHITECTURE=88X line, but that went away after I added the null "FILTER_CAPTURE_AUDIO=" -- but now it does not seem to be picking up the pin names I've specified for the capture output -- it should be "Audio Out" as per the file and not "Audio" as it says in the log.

My direct.ini looks like this:
Code:
[Hauppauge HVR-1200 (analog)] ARCHITECTURE=88X INIT_MODE=DEFAULT INIT_MSP=0 SUPPORTS_FM_RADIO=0 BLACKBIRD=1 CONEXANT=1 ;FORCE_ENCODER=1 ;ENCODER_DISCONNECT_BUG=1 FILTER_CROSSBAR=Hauppauge WinTV 885 Crossbar FILTER_CAPTURE=Hauppauge WinTV 885 Video Capture FILTER_TV_TUNER=Hauppauge WinTV 885 Tuner FILTER_TV_AUDIO=Hauppauge WinTV 885 TvAudio FILTER_ENCODER=MainConcept (MCE) MPEG Encoder FILTER_CAPTURE_AUDIO= PIN_TVTUNER_ANALOG_VIDEO_OUT=Analog Video PIN_TVTUNER_ANALOG_AUDIO_OUT=Analog Audio PIN_TVAUDIO_TV_AUDIO_IN=TVAudio In PIN_TVAUDIO_TV_AUDIO_OUT=TVAudio Out PIN_CROSSBAR_VIDEO_TUNER_IN=Video Tuner In PIN_CROSSBAR_AUDIO_TUNER_IN=Audio Tuner In PIN_CROSSBAR_VIDEO_DECODER_OUT=Video Decoder Out PIN_CROSSBAR_AUDIO_DECODER_OUT=Audio Decoder Out PIN_CAPTURE_ANALOG_VIDEO_IN=Analog Video In PIN_CAPTURE_ANALOG_AUDIO_IN=Analog Audio In PIN_CAPTURE_CAPTURE_OUT=Capture PIN_CAPTURE_I2S_OUT=Audio Out PIN_CAPTURE_656_OUT=Capture PIN_ENCODER_I2S_IN=Input Audio PIN_ENCODER_656_IN=Input Video PIN_ENCODER_OUT=Output PIN_WRITER_INPUT_IN=Input

The log file for a recording produces this:
