hi all! i am new to a home built pvr! just a forewarning. now onto my problem, i have tried alot of different programs to make an older computer into a htpc that can record and play tv and movies. this is a stand alone system. its hardware is as follows...

amd 3800 x2 (socket 939)
msi k8n neo4 plat. motherboard
2 gigs of ddr 400
8600 gts
and for tuners i have
HVR-950
ATI HDTV Wonder
and i have on order... HVR-1800 (i think in order to get the qam from the cable company we get i need this card?)

and of coarse we have basic cable.

now the problem i am running into is i cannot figure out how to fix my recording problem. i will record something (i have tried regular recordings and manual recordings) and as soon as the file is done recording its gone. it was in the pending tab until it finished then it disappeared. i read about this problem in another topic only problem is im new! so i couldnt really figure out where the postprocessing.bat is and how to edit it so my recordings will stay around (assuming that is the problem, i know live tv works, but that is about the extent of what i know for sure...)

thanks for any help!

post your logs (ie, zip the logs directory and attach the zip file to your reply). without seeing the logs, I'll take a guess that you didn't set a recordings path on the directories tab in config, or whatever directory you did set doesn't exist.

okay, here ya go. the current extension is the default which is C:/Temp there is enough room on the hdd to write teh data (unless the file is bigger than 20 gigs) i forgot to mention i have 2 hdds one is 120 gig and the other is 150 gig, i have the 120 partitioned into 30 and the rest (90) is combined with the 150 to make a 240 gig partition. anywho dont know if that is relavent or not but the partition the recordings will be on will not the the same one that the program is installed to

You'll need to reenable log flushing on the first tab of the config app, then reproduce the problem and repost the logs.

When you're recording, can you see the file in the recording directory? Or was it never created?

ok enabled log flush and it is attempting to record as we speak. first... the icon in the tray (i have program in windowed mode so i can see if the file was being created) is staying the same, isnt this suppose to change color when recording? second no file is created. when i click on the tray icon to find the status of my tuner it says the card is sleeping.

i will get you the logs once this is finished doing its recording thing

The icon should turn green during recording, the status should not be sleeping, and you should see a file being created. It's pretty clear you are not recording anything at this point. What does the Guide show? Is it red for the program you are trying to record? Also, what does Pending say? Does it tell you that you are recording something?

You're trying to use the analog side of the device that has no hardware MPEG2 encoder. GB-PVR officially only supports analog devices with hardware MPEG2 encoder.

Some people have been able to get the analog side of this device working, but you need to have the Hauppauge SoftMCE software installed (you dont have it installed).

The digital side of your device would be fine.
