I have been trying to set-up a client machine using GB PVR. My PC with the TV tuner card in it is going fine now (WinXP, Hauppauge HVR-2200).
The Client machine (XP) can connect and correctly show what capture sources are available, however when I go to watch live TV or watch a recording all I get is a blank window, and then after 10 seconds it returns to the menu.
I have installed teh Power DVD codec's which was the problem I initially encountered with my server PC. I had to have the firewall off or specifically open port 7968 on the server to get the client to connect to the GBPVR server and see the available capture sources.
What else could be wrong that I cannot get any picture.
The logs for the server and client are attached.
Thanks

just check that the client can play the media if you copy a file across To see if the codecs are working right
can you play a file from the video library over the network
also make sure you are using file sharing

Ok, Copied 2 files to the Laptop, and couldn't play those either, so nothing to do with streaming, just can't decode / display anything at all. It's a HP laptop. I've got the power DVD 8 codec registered for Video decoder, audio decoder and H.264 decoder, but nothing for the rest of them, just system default. None have any other options except the Audio Renderer. I'm really not to sure about how to sort out which codec is missing and where to go looking to find them. I have had a good long read through the help on this and it's the only part that really puzzles me, and unfortunately it's the only part that's really causing me problems.
The laptop uses a intel 915GM chipset.

monogram for audio i would say is what you are missing

how fast is the laptop
unless its a dual core i think you may have issues getting it to do h.264 decoding
uses alot of cpu power to decode
thats why HardWare decoding is the best way to go but been a laptop the video card can not be changed easily

I got monogram with no difference. Still not playing just a black scren for 10 seconds the return to the menu for local files even.
When trying to play the windows task manager shows the processor being used between 0 and 5% i.e. it's pretty much in idle the whole time when I try to play.
Laptop is a Celeron 1.8GHz with 1G RAM.

ok if it was going to play then it should be showing 100% on that machine
sounds like its not even trying to play or cant play cause something is missing
personally i think it wont play with any watch able results the machine is to slow
im not saying dont give it a try
make sure you have hardware acceleration turned off in video decoder settings (h.264)dxva

I don't know why but it doesn't look like it is building a proper graph.

This is yours
Code:
2009-05-24 17:03:26.875    VERBOSE    Graph contains the following filters:
2009-05-24 17:03:26.875    VERBOSE     - Video Renderer
2009-05-24 17:03:26.875    VERBOSE     - MPEG-2 Demultiplexer
2009-05-24 17:03:26.875    VERBOSE     - SOURCE

This is an example of mine
Code:
2009-05-25 09:11:32.155    VERBOSE    Graph contains the following filters:
2009-05-25 09:11:32.155    VERBOSE     - Default DirectSound Device
2009-05-25 09:11:32.155    VERBOSE     - Video Renderer
2009-05-25 09:11:32.155    VERBOSE     - AC3Filter
2009-05-25 09:11:32.155    VERBOSE     - CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD8)
2009-05-25 09:11:32.155    VERBOSE     - GB-PVR Flow Status
2009-05-25 09:11:32.155    VERBOSE     - GB-PVR Parser
2009-05-25 09:11:32.155    VERBOSE     - SOURCE

Post a log showing an attempt to play a local file and I'll see if anything stands out.

Tried turning off dxva, still no video and processor still idling.

Log files are attached for playing a local ts file.

Screen shot also attached of config playback screen. As Dark half suggested log file doesn't reflect playback settings.

Sorry, I specifically wanted to see an attempt to play the file locally. ie, copy the recording to the C: drive of the client, and play it from there.

BTW, .ts files are not compatible with 'streaming mode' clients, so you'd need to switch to 'file share mode'.
