Hi Sub,
That actually was an attempt to play a local TS file.
I recorded a short part of 2 different programs on my PC that is working. I checked that I could correctly play them back on that PC and both worked fine.
I then copied the 2 files I had recorded to a local directory on the Laptop that I'm having trouble with (C:\TV). The files are 343 MB and 195 MB in size, so they have correctly copied there.
The recordings directory in GBPVR has been set to C:/TV.
I then opened PVRX2 selected recordings, selected one of the files and told it to play.
It went to a blank window for 10+ seconds then returned to the menu screen with the process sitting in idle or close to it for the entire time.
I have repeated this again and log files are attached again.

What was it in the log that made you think that I hadn't been trying to play a local file?

It wasnt.

The little squiggle at the begining of the file name effectively says "play from server":

Code:
2009-05-26 19:27:57.858 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase::playVideoFileTS(~X:\TV Recordings\Downsize Me\Downsize Me_20090524_15301630.ts)

If you'd played a local file it wouldnt have had the squiggle, and would have had a path to a local drive like C:\...

OK fair enough.
PVR is not behaving at all in the way I would expect then.
My directories settings are attached and were set to C:/TV, but as you have pointed out it is not playing from there. I had configured it for that at one stage using a mapped network drive but have since changed that, or are those server file location settings ??
Anyway...
I just tried turning off the capture sources - configure this machine to act as a client and now there are no recordings showing at all in PVRX2.
Screen shots attached.
Looks like there is something very basic that I'm missing here but I'm not sure what it is.

If you want to play file locally, you have to do it from the Video Library screen, and need to have a video library directory setup in the config app that points to C:\

If you try playing it from the Recordings screen, while configured as a client, then its going to try playing it from the server.

just a bit of info to get your head around how the file system works
video library is basically a file browser just the same as you look files in windows except it has a filter to only show video type files

where as the recording directory works off a data base created by gbpvr when a recording is done

so move the video you want to play to a folder on your laptop then add that to your video library selection in config
looking at your drop down screen shot
C:\tv folder

Ok, So I've got past that mistake. I at least now have it trying to play a local file. It comes up with the titles, time etc and plays the sounds correctly. I just have no video output.
I tried it with and without the DxVA on. The processor is still hardly working in both cases so it's not trying to make the processor decode video.
Logs attached.

My guess is that this machine has the newer version of the PDVD8 H.264 decoder is not usable outside of PowerDVD.

Yes I'm pretty sure it's got the same codecs installed and selected, but very different hardware. Other machine have a decent Nvidia video card to work with.
I'll have a play with the codecs installed tonight and see if I can get any further. I should really go to work now though. Thanks
