Ignoring plugins, what has to be saved to do a clean install to not lose settings?

Also, if I have GB-PVR set up on multiple pcs, and get one JUST how I want it, can I just copy the GB folder to the other pcs? Or are there thigns that go on outside of the GB folder with changes like in the reg.

Thanks.

It is reckoned (it works for me) that you save the database gbpvr.mdb and the master config file config.xml. That should do it but I allways save the last version of the gbpvr dir before I uninstall

Yes, these are the two files, but dont copy ones from an older version over a newer GB-PVR installation. These files are changed with most releases.

Sub. Are you saying that we should not follow this practice now? I know there are changes to these files but I thought they were minor. The DB is the most important file. Config I can live with. Whats the ultimate answer?

The answer is pretty much as I said, those two files contain the things people are interested in keeping, but be warned they are often updated during upgrades. If you replace the new files with ones from an older build, its likely to cause problems (fields missing in the database, settings missing etc).

The upgrade procedure is designed make the new changes to these files, but retain their content, so you should try to use this were possible.

If you need to restore these files, only restore them to the version they came from.

What about the multiple pcs. Once installed, do new installs change anything to the reg or other places outside of the installed directory? Like if upgrade GB-PVR at my work pc, can I just copy the directory to the home one and not risk losing things?

All the .ax files would need to be registered. There is also a couple of registry settings at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\devnz

Thanks. You've kept me from posting a "I've just copied my files to a new pc and it doesn't work" thread. Smile It probably seemed like an odd question, but I just find it harder to mess with files on the tv.
