I'm using mc2xml to update my EPG, but after I update, I have "No Details" for all listings. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. My UpdateEPG.bat file consists of the following lines:

@echo off

Rem Get Guide Data from mc2xml
c:\EPG\MCEPGUpdate.exe

Rem Send the command to GB-PVR to tell it to update its EPG
C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.exe -OnlyUpdateEPG

My MCEPGUpdate.exe is and executable of a .bat file that consists of the following:

del xmltv.xml
mc2xml.exe -f -c ca -g XXXXXX -C mc2xml.chl -F -o xmltv.xml

where: XXXXXX is my Postal Code.

Now the base xmltv.xml file is built from the mc2xml.exe command and resides in the same directory. The gbpvr command is run as it builds an xmltv.xml file in the gbpvr directory. Thing is the original file is around 50-60 Megs, while the rebuilt one is over 100Megs. But I'm still getting "No Details" so I don't quite understand where I'm going wrong. Should I be deleting the xmltv.xml file that resides in the gbpvr directory as well? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. I also REMed out the "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.exe -OnlyUpdateEPG" command as I read in the Wiki that it is not used externally anymore, but it didn't make a difference.

Thanks again. Have a good one.

Update the EPG from Config and then zip and post your config.exe.log and config.exe.native.log

I think I kinda figured it out partially. My MCEPGUpdate.exe file was older than my .bat (of the same name). So I realized after, that my xmltv.exe file was not really updating and the xmltv file that gbpvr was building was based on an outdated file.

The only confusing thing is figuring out when gbpvr uses its UpdateEPG.bat file. Seemed that it is not used in config, nor is it used when running from the Update EPG command within gbpvr/system, as it seems to not build a new xmltv.xml file within the gbpvr directory. The only time gbpvr seems to use its UpdateEPG.bat file is in a timed manner (according to what is defined in config.exe), or when running the "Update EPG" command from the gbpvr that is sitting down in the system tray. Is this correct?

Actually the updater within config seems to be trying, but I'm getting an error message reported in the log that "Unexpected error removing old shows from EPG: The database disk image is malformed". Attached is the log file. The native log indicated nothing in the nature of EPG.

Again, thanks for your help.

Found an error in my mc2xml.bat file where I should have indicated to go to the directory that contained mc2xml.exe and the xmltv.xml file to start, as when I ran the UpdateEPG.bat file, it would try and run from the GBPVR directory. This was the reason that I was getting this large xmltv.xml file built within the GBPVR directory.

I also downloaded the latest mc2xml.exe file, and followed the directions on its site, but I'm still not getting information displayed and all fields remain with no details.

I will re-upload my config.exe.log file tonight when I get a chance.

Anyone else besides myself and tjc having issues with using mc2xml to get updates recently? I mean, it was once all working at some point as I had EPG data in the past.

I don't know what version of GBPVR you are using, but since some time GBPVR.exe isn't part of it anymore. So
Quote:C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.exe -OnlyUpdateEPG
won't work. So check your GBPVR folder to see if it's there or not.
I think replacing GBPVR.exe with PVRX2.exe might work.

Oh, thanks for the tip, I will try PVRX2.exe. I remember reading that that command wouldn't work, so I have REMed it out too, but it still doesn't work.

I saw I missed a question.
UpdateEpg.bat is run when it is started by gbpvr automatically at the time set in config. And it is used if you start epg-update from the gbpvr-tray-icon.

Hans

Edit: and of course make sure that "gbpvr-config-capture sources" points to the right file, for updating epg.

Well after getting this message: "Unexpected error removing old shows from EPG: The database disk image is malformed", I noticed that my channel group had grown to 1818 entries. This was because the channel list kept on repeating itself. I figured that this error was causing the config to redo the channel list by appending to the existing list. Not knowing what else to try, I uninstalled GBPVR, and started over again with a fresh install.

Everything is working now. I guess when I jumped up three versions, I must have broke something somewhere.

Thanks for all the help and tips to get me going guys (and gals), your information was very much appreciated.
