Hi,

I've done portforwarding on 7647, I've disabled the firewall.

I can access other programs on this computer from another computer on the same lan and also from outside the lan. But not gbpvr.

To avoid typos I've copied and pasted the successful gbpvr localhost login to the end of my dyndns.org address and still no joy. Other programs have no problems.

Just to clarify
localhost:7647/gbpvr works
myaddress.dyndns.org:7647/gbpvr doesn't

Can I have some pointers of where to check next?

Many thanks
Alan

Did you disable the firewall on the system aswell as in the router/modem?

Hi Hans,

Hans

I disabled the firewall on my system Window XP/Comodo Firewall.

I have a SpeedTouch 585 modem. Firewall settings are on standard.
* allow all outgoing connections and block all incoming traffic. Game & Application sharing is allowed by the firewall.

And I've forwarded port 7647 to my system so that will let it through the modem firewall.

The puzzling thing is I've done exactly the same for other programs for port forwarding and they connect fine but gbpvr doesn't.

I've downloaded portqryV2 and I've run
portqry -e 7647 -n localhost
and it has come back with
TCP port 7647 (unknown service): LISTENING

So it is listening.

I would be grateful on some next steps to find out where the communication is breaking down.

Many thanks
Alan

Forwarding the port does not necessarily mean that it's open. You might have to allow incoming traffic on that port too in the firewall.

Edit: Otoh portcry says it's listening, so the firewall must be letting it through. Sorry.

Comodo Firewall says gbpvrrecordingservice.exe is listening on 7647 with 0 bytes in.

Is there any network tool/log to track data coming in from the router to the firewall and seeing what happens to it?

Something like tracert but for your local computer ?

Thanks

I did a little googling, I found for another speedtouch (785 I think) the following advice:
Don't make your own forwarding rules but change one of the preset ones that are already in there. One that you don't use ofcourse. Change the port to the one EWA uses.
This was an advice from the Thomson helpdesk.

Yep, my speedtouch lasted around 24 hours - I now have 3 lying about as I seem to get a new one everytime I change broadband provider...

I thought you had something there.

I changed another profile "Alien Vs Predator" to 7647 but I still can't connect to gbpvr.

utorrent connects fine! ... and it was one I created.

What happens if you use the utorrent port for gbpvr. As you can see, I kind of ran out of decent ideas.

Hans
It's worth a shot. I'll try after gbpvr has finished recording Smile

Thanks
