Hi,

I use a website to route forum messages to my home email address, and the website admin has added a bunch of filters, one of which has recently caused me to NOT receive GBPVR forum emails, even though I can see the message on that webmail server.

I have also added a bunch of my own (I have rights to do this) but I cannot for the life of me work out WHICH filter is blocking GBPVR emails.

Is there a program out there which would help me run the email through the filter list (I can export the list but it uses some funny (regex?) codes to denote bounce, delete, forward etc.

Failing this, would some kind soul be able to have a quick look at the two example messages attached, and the filter list, also attached? Need only look at the shorter list prefixed with B, the 2: series are delete, so I wouldn't have seen the message at all.

Thanks!

k.

Bummer, thanks for trying all the same. Your reply definitely made it to the server, just wasn't forwarded (but other mails are, so I know that's working OK). Can you or someone else pls reply to this thread, so I can check what it is doing by turning off all filters? Ta.

Thanks. Not working .... arrghh. Will carry on digging. GBPVR is sending to the intermediate server, I am just not receiving from them.

The messages you included in the zip didn't show their full headers which filters often use most.
I remember having problems forwarding mail via two webmail servers in the past - the first ran a spam filter and added a header line saying it had been scanned and the second saw the work SPAM in the header from the first and blocked it !

That would be nice: the spammers putting "SPAM" in the header of their messages.Big Grin

lol, i've run into that a couple of times too... an anti-spam sevice added some spam scoring info to an e-mail, like this:

Code:
X-Spam-Report: SpamAssassin 3.2.5 (2008-06-10)
    Spam Tests:
    *  0.6 SARE_SXLIFE BODY: Talks about your sex life
    *  0.0 HTML_MESSAGE BODY: HTML included in message
    * -0.1 AWL AWL: From: address is in the auto white-list
X-Spam-Class: HAM - SpamAssassin good - Score=0

there was nothing in the e-mail at all relating to sex life, not sure where it got that idea (I think the words 'partner' and 'meet' appeared in the e-mail in separate paragraphs, maybe that was it), but anyhow the anti-spam service passed it as good... but then the final receiving mail server had some additional keyword scanning, and applied the scanning to the header(!) so it got bounced for having the word 'Sex' in the header:

Code:
SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:
User is not accepting mail having this content

ah, so stupid....

No, it was the first spam scanner adding an X-content line with the word spam in it that upset the second servers filter

Yes I understood that, I only meant to say that it seems rather odd/pointless to let a spamfilter scan for the word "spam". As if a spammer would use that word.
