disable standby during defrag

I use a batch file to run defrag and then restart. If defrag is not complete before 10 minutes (my standby setting) the computer stills goes into standby. Is there a line I can add to the batch file to disable standby until defrag is complete and the restart is done? I would prefer not to change my 10 minute standby setting. Running XP Pro

You can create schemes for Power-Saving options and label them (e.g. power-saving, defrag).
You can then activate a scheme by using the command 'powercfg /setactive scheme' in your batch file.

Will the computer then revert back to the 10 minute power scheme after the restart, or remain in the defrag scheme?

The power scheme remains.

Your batch file could look like this:

powercfg /setactive defrag
defrag
powercfg /setactive power-saving
reboot

I don´t know if defrag returns error-state at finish to call powercfg again - otherwise you should enter the line
'powercfg /setactive power-saving'
at a system start batch to get the default power scheme back.

Your suggestion, sml42, did the trick, but only after I found the correct syntax for the command line. Seems the power scheme had to be in quotes or I received an "Invalid Parameter" error when that line was executed. Thanks for steering me in the right direction. I always learn new things when I take on new projects like this HTPC. Also, thank you sub for a great program.
