Are there any drawbacks of the NMT with GBPVR? Back when it first came out I believe it couldn't skip commercials. Is this still the case?

After using my new NMT for a couple of weeks I still haven't found anything apart from playing .ogg music files (that play with the native NMT player) that doesn't work as well if not much better than it does on my MVP's, comskip works fine now & the picture quality for SD (we can't get HD here) & even for analog recordings is really amazing.

Do you know what the fix was for comskip on the NMT?

It was way more than a "fix", it was a big effort by sub and I to come up with a redesigned version of both the client and server with and enhanced protocol and also by the beta team that helped get it production ready.

In reference to comskip, is it just the Popcorn Hour NMT that works currently? I am in the US, with 2 current MVP's, but using my Scientific Atlanta almost exlusively. (COX provided DVR that records HD)

Have been looking at PopCorn Hour, Egreat and Icy Box NMT's a bit, and knowing that PCH has the C200 coming... well, I'm sold on GBPVR, and would like to use it as my primary control.

This link is a bit old (the PDF on NMT-CLASH), but it threw me a bit off of the A110.

So far there no reports about mvpmcx2 or other NMT user apps conflicting with any NMT running the Syabas firmware. The C-200 is a new variable, and while it could be amazing as a client, it is not supported.

Martin,
From your reply am I right in thinking that any NMT running the Syabas firmware should be able to run mvmpcx2 & gb-pvr in PCH2 mode & therefore comskip?

I can confirm my EGreat M34a NMT using mvpmcx2 PCH2 mode uses comskip just fine.

Jaggy, I'm placed in a tough spot when I am asked these questions. I THINK all NMT's can run mvpmcx2 but it is ultimately caveat empter.

I gather that both the Popcorn Hour and Egreat machines have had success, and other boxes based on the NMT should work equally.

As for comskip itself, it sounds like it can work with these boxes using the PCH2 update. I am guessing that comskip is running on SD recorded MPG's though? How about HD media? I was figuring on replacing an MVP with a NMT, then looking into replacing my PVR150/500. I can pick up the local channels clear QAM, and have seen that Hauppauge has a dual HD tuner available.

HDTV --> MPG(?) --> Comskip --> .... NMT .... this possible today?

Yes, I currently use comskip with the PCH for both HD and SD content. The HD comes from clear QAM channels. As you state, you need the PCH2 update.
