The commandline Systemshark gave you will only work if you put the msi-file in c:\temp. Did you do that?
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

Yes I did I put GBpvr.msi in the temp directory

If you run Vista don't forget to run your command shell as Administrator and not just start run cmd. I recommend trying

sc delete "gb-pvr recording service"

I was able to run cmd as administrator, my log file is much longer now but still an error. I'll try to add it.

Hi

Reply to this post and scroll down the page to additional options below.
Click the button 'Manage Attachments'
A new window is displayed.
Browse to your log file (zipped up) and press upload
When it's complete click on close window

The window will close

Finally press submit

right

The MSI is generating a 1603 error, which is in the middle of the dialog Screens.

It appears the MSI does not have the rights to disk which it's trying to write to...

Here's the official Microsoft support page ...

I know your installing on a Vista machine but everything points towards permissions problem.
