Hi all,

I'm new to this forum.

First let me thank all the people involved, it looks like a great tool, can't wait to put it to use Wink

I'm considering the following setup:
1. Atom based netbook (as server with GB-PVR)
1.1 USB digital+analog Tuner (don't need simultaneous, just thinking ahead for the switch)
2. PCH A-110 as client

Now, on to my question(s):
1. Can an Atom processor (netbook) be used as GB-PVR server? Can it do the duties? I'm particularly concerned with the encoding part, I think the streaming to the PCH will be easy (or will it?). Anyone used Atom HW for this?

2. What tuner would/should work with the Atom (considering it can deliver). It would have to be a USB tuner, considering the netbook part.

Thanks a lot for any info.
Pedro.

Digital - the broadcast stream is already encoded in MPEG so no encoding is done during recording.

Analog - GBPVR only works with analog devices that include a hardware encoder so, again, no encoding is done by the processor in the server.

The load on my 2 GHZ processor is trivial ( <10%) when recording several channels.

It'll work, but it'll be a little slower generating screens in response to pressing buttons on the remote than a faster server would be.

I run linux on my ION 330 and in a VirtualBox XP session I have no problem serving GBPVR, without capture of course.

add some stress for usb as usb capture will eat processor time also...
[usb relies on processor to do some of it's work, mostly just startup of capture]

it should work fine tho as long as you aren't trying to record 2 shows at once..
[if they're both on usb] even my usb digital dongle would have dropouts when recording too many shows at once..
but one, no problem..Smile

Thanks for the replies Smile

definitely going that route...

Any recommendation for a European USB capture card?

Thanks again,
Pedro.
