Perhaps I've missed something obvious but I can't record TV programs for later viewing. I've scheduled them to record but they don't. Interestingly GBPVR creates a folder for each of these programs in the "temp" folder (not the folder I configured it to put files in - that was the "my videos" folder) but each of these newly created folders are empty and there are no files of the recording in either the "temp" or "my videos" folder. I'm using GBPVR 1.4.7 in Windows XP. Your help is most appreciated.

Zip and post your GBPVR\logs folder.

You're getting errors when recording:

Code:
2009-09-01 12:29:00.234    ERROR    [5]    Error starting recording: System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Length cannot be less than zero.
Parameter name: length
at System.String.InternalSubStringWithChecks(Int32 startIndex, Int32 length, Boolean fAlwaysCopy)
   at System.String.Substring(Int32 startIndex, Int32 length)
at NativeUtilities.BDARecorder.StartRecording(String cardType, Int32 board, String filename, IntPtr hwnd, ChannelTuning channelTuning, Int32 lnbLOF1, Int32 lnbSwitch, Int32 lnbLOF2, Int32 diseqc, Boolean powered, Boolean previewMode, Int32 commonInterface)
at NativeUtilities.BDARecorder.StartRecording(String cardType, Int32 board, String filename, IntPtr hwnd, ChannelTuning channelTuning, Int32 lnbLOF1, Int32 lnbSwitch, Int32 lnbLOF2, Int32 diseqc, Boolean powered, Int32 commonInterface)
at GBPVR.Backend.Common.BDARecordingSource.startRecording(IRecordingSourceConfiguration config, Int32 qualitySetting, String filename, ChannelTuning channelTuning, Int32 minutes, Boolean useStreamingEngineIfAvailable)
   at GBPVR.RecordingService.x93f60a55016d55c4.xcba1f05fb5a46d5f()

I'm not sure what's causing the error but sub should be able tell you when he gets a chance to take a look at the logs. I suspect it may have something to do with your EPG but I'm not sure.

Note to sub: the above error is from the recordingservice-1 logs so you don't have to hunt too much.

I've seen a similar error when an enabled channel is not mapped. I'd suggest he verify that he only has properly mapped channels enabled. I also saw that the system reports in the logs that his recording directory is C:\temp. I'd doublecheck that. Finally, if they look right, make sure there isn't a duplicate config.xml floating around - (IIRC, in c:\windows?). That's happened a few times.

I'm sure sub will have better suggestions, so he should check back here, too.

From what I can tell, you dont have your channels mapped (or at least the channel you tried recording from in that log). Can you post a screenshot of your 'map digital channels to epg channels' screen?

In attempting to do this, I noticed that my TV tuner card, Hauppage HVR-1250, isn't offered as a choice in "tuner settings." Might this be at the root of my problem. If so, how do I overcome it? Interestingly, I can watch live TV through GBPVR. If this isn't at the heart of my problem please tell me how I can get to the window that you want the screen shot of?

When you view your capture source settings, click the 'map digital channels to epg channels' button. Basically in that screen you need to map sure you only have mapped channels enabled.

When I do this I get the following error message; "The application has failed to start because MagCore.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." Short of re-instaling GBPVR is thiere something else that I should be trying?

I have no idea what MagCore.dll is. Maybe something to do with the video decoder you're using. Try a different one.
