How do you grab Tv show info?

Hello,

Forgive me if this information that I'm looking for is posted somewhere but I cannot seem to find the correct information or tutorial on how to accomplish.

Here is the scenario:
I have many TV shows stored on a large hard drive. I would like to be able to view information regarding the show and the episodes contained within when viewing through gbpvr. I need to know what plugin/script/core component to use to grab this info from imdb or whereever to make it available to gbpvr. I also need to know what the directory structure and file naming convention needs to be to accomplish this. Right now I have the following directory structure: SHOW NAME / SEASON # / episode files. I have no consistent file naming convention so I will change to whatever is required to get it to work.

Currently all these shows are access through gbpvr Video Library core component.

Any help and/or guidance to a correct tutorial is greatly appreciated!

You could use VidImport;

Which would add your shows to the recordings (not video) library.

Thank you Pob. This looks like it might help. If I understand correctly once imported into Recordings when I select a video it will display the show/episode information correct? Or is there something else I have to set up for Recordings to show this information?

The show and episode information should show, depending on the directory structure and file names used...but you might have to add VidImport to your firewall exception list so it can reach IMDB - no harm in trying it anyway. I have only used it on recordings made with PVRX2 so the show and episode information is already there.

So I looked at the other utilities beside vidimport and saw moviewiz. Has anyone used both? Can you comment on which one you would recommend?
