I'm not too concerned w/ programming selection... they'll both give me what I want to watch. I'm concerned about tuning.

I'll have 3 Hauppauge NTSC tuners (1 PVR 150, and 1 PVR 500). Right now the PVR 150 is pulling channels off the standard cable and I'm happy. I tried using the digital box from Comcast, but channel changing didn't always happen correctly, and I never played with it enough to get it working.

With Comcast, I know that (for now) I can just tie the cable into a splitter and get three feeds, one for each tuner.

With DirectTV, I'll need 3 boxes, right?

What would you choose? (Let's say for sake of argument, that I can get bundles of equal cost and channel line-ups from either.)

Depending on where in Pa you are Comcast is about to end sending analog over their cable so you will need a STB anyway, If not this year, by next summer for sure.

It ends up being a wash, for all intents and purposes it won't make a bit of difference, same setup on either system.

If Comcast sends more QAM, I could still use digital cards to capture without a box, correct?

With DirectTV, I would only be able to use STBs, if I understand correctly.

Comcast has cut the Clear QAM to the quick. They're only sending out the local networks now. They have finished their conversion here but that's their plan for everwhere.
