Is there a way to either prevent or make the video inset to not get in the way for DVD, Weather2, Stocks, BurnDVDX2, Jukebox2? You know, when you are watching LiveTV, then hit menu to check the weather conditions for example.

I checked with Jaggy, and he said it was not skin specific for the Blue Retro SHV skin, it does it in blue as well. (Thanks Jaggy, I didn't test that part thinking it was only the skin I was using.)

the position of the inset window used to be in the skin..[at least last version]
unless something's changed, it should still be adjustable in there..
looks like it's remarked out in some screens...
<Placement name="InsetRect" loc="3.5,72" size="22,22"/>
[from recordings skin in blue]
in tv guide it's <!-- <Placement name="InsetRect" loc="3.5,72" size="22,22"/> -->
effectively disabling that line...
just remove <!-- and --> and adjust...
each screen should have one of those...otherwise i think it falls back to main menu placement..[or none]

Hi pBS... what file are you referring to?

EDIT: Oh ok, I see what you mean. So each skin file needs to be edited.

EDIT: Umm, just checked it out. I think I am going to leave the skins alone Smile

it's pretty easy actually...you have to edit each screen's skin..each screen has it different places...some not at all..
to remove them, just put a <!--- before it, and --> after that one line...so it loooks like:
<!-- <Placement name="InsetRect" loc="3.5,72" size="22,22"/> -->
or even replace it with that one..Smile

i'm not sure why he remarked the ones in some of the blue screens, but they work...
i think the community skins do have it set properly...Smile

i believe the numbers mean loc="3.5,72" size="22,22"
3.5 from left of screen,down 72....size 22x22...
i just guess, and see where it ended up, then adjust...
usually doesn't take long to get it right where ya want it...
they should be in good spots already in blue, just uncomment..

one of these days i'll finish up my OSX-like skin..[complete with icon dock]
i even made one while back that was a pic of my sis's entertainment center, with component rack as menu items...[select dvdplayer pic on rack to play dvd]
tho now i realize i should have used clipart for more consistent items instead of actual pics..
really needs to be more user skins...amazing things can be done with a little imagination and play...Smile

I use blue retro SHV skin. The ones that fall back to the main menu placement is the ones that really need work. And they have no "inset" settings in the skin file at all. I wouldn't even know how to go about adding it, if that is even possible.

I just played some more with this but I still can't get it to do anything for plugin's so I think the plugin developers have to do something to allow it to work for their plugin. (I tested Weather2, Torrents & Jukebox2)

I even tried putting it into my baseskin.xml & rem'ing it in the recordings skin & testing & sure enough it worked fine for the recordings view with a small inset down the lower left corner but it was still displaying the big main menu inset for my plugins.

Recordings works for me without modification. That is why I did not list that one. Does the same thing, shows a small livetv in the lower left. I will just live with it. Just thought maybe I had something set wrong. Thanks!

Sorry maybe I didn't word my message very well.

1: I added the placement "<Placement name="InsetRect" loc="1.5,72" size="22,22"/>" to the baseskin.xml (this should make it be used for all plugins including the built in GB-PVR ones)

2: To test this I removed (rem'ed) the placement InsetRec out of the Recordings skin file. (without this if the baseskin placement wasn't working it would display the big main menu inset) it displayed correctly with the small lower left inset

3: I tested by opening the plugins I currently have installed on my computer (Weather2, Torrents & Jukebox2) & all of them displayed the big main menu inset.

Hope that is a bit clearer?

Oh ok! I read your previous one to fast. I see how you were testing it now. I still wont bother the developers with something this minor.

I have found that not all placements work via the baseskin.xml file, of course, I couldn't tell you what they were now since it has been so long, but just an FYI that it doesn't always work.
