Greetings.

Got the server running just fine, no issues there.

Trying to set up a client. Got the client mode set on the capture source tab, server field is set to the network name that the main GBPVR is running on.

Read the wiki, it indicated I don't have the proper decoder installed on the client. I'm running the WinTV-HVR-1950 on the main GB machine, and tried loading drivers on the client.

Got a message indicating drivers weren't installed since hardware wasn't detected.

About the only thing I haven't tried is plugging in the vid capture hardware, load the drivers, and return it to the main computer.

Anytime I try to start the application, I get the following error:
Unhanded exception has occurred in a component in your application.
and
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Anyone got advice?

I'm pretty sure you dont have the client settings correct. Can you see "\\MAINTV-PC\Public\LiveTV Buffer Directory\gbpvr.db3" from the client? Thats where it'll be looking based on your current directories.

I was able to view \\MAINTV-PC\Public\LiveTV Buffer Directory\ from the client, but there were no files.

Further, I was unable to copy any files in that directory.

I do have some permission issues to deal with (ran out of time this morning), and I wouldn't have known to look there if it wasn't for your post, so much appreciated. Smile

I'll report back after I muck with it tonight. I never had much luck with public folders, so I'll probably re-direct everything to a new folder off the root drive of the server computer and share the heck out of it.

I changed the directory, updated permissions, and made sure I can add a file from the client to the server directory.

Same error persists.

Also, nothing exists in that directory, not even gbpvr.db3.

Did you read this page on the wiki?
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Config/PCClient

It has been a while since I setup my client but I am sure you have to share (with read write permission) the GBPVR directory & point the client to it as that is where the database is that it need to work.

Yea, been there, done that, followed that page pretty thoroughly.

The new buffer and other directories are completely accessible by the client (as opposed to my status first thing this morning based upon sub's post).

Wiki also blames the error on lack of mpeg decoders on that computer, but I can't install the drivers without hardware, etc..

If you look in 'GBPVR files\LiveTV Buffer Directory' on the machine you call MAINTV-PC, can you see a file called gbpvr.db3 ?

If not, I think you need to look at the Database Share field on the Capture Sources tab of the config app on your client.

Typically, on your server (MAINTV-PC) you would share C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr as 'gbpvr' for example. Then on the client, you would point the Database Share field to \\MAINTV-PC\gbpvr ...

I am gonna take a shot at this, after checking the wiki and having a laptop setup in streaming mode.

In your "Directories" tab in config, do you have your "Recording Directory" set to the same directory on your server that your server uses, and in the "LiveTV Buffer" is it set to C:\Temp (make sure you make this folder on your client)?
