I did have a look at your logs but as I am not really all that good at interpreting the logs yet I was hoping sub or whurlston would have a look for you......unfortunately sub is out of the country for the next couple of weeks & I haven't seen him log on for a day or two & whurlston must have missed this message or been too busy at the time.

My suggestion would be to uninstall coreavc and ffdshow and try these ...

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPA_Decoder.htm

They are old and reliable. When you have stuff working with these decoders, you can try again with ffdshow or something.

For your broadcasts you need an H.264 decoder, like the ArcSoft or Cyberlink one, and an HE-AAC decoder. You can get an HE-AAC decoder from http://blog.monogram.sk/janos/2009/03/08...oder-0960/

Jaggy - sorry, i dodn't notice that there's page number 2 for this thread Big Grin

Sub - Thanks! I already have the he-aac decoder. i'll try to get the arcsoft or cyberling h.264 decoder, but isn't coreavc also a h.264 decoder?

one more question - i think i have a ulead h.264 decoder. should i try this one?

Graham - Thanks, but i don't understand something - the mpv and mpa decoders are mpeg2 decoders. i already use a great mpeg2 decoder (dscaler, the best!), but for this kins of broadcast i need mpeg4.

Each h.264 decoder is different. Sub has to write custom support for each one. Try his suggestions.

Ignore me. It was late and I was too tired to be driving.

Apologies

ok, i tried both arcsoft and cyberlink, and still - the same problem Sad

i read somewhere that win7 has built-in decoders that even if you install external decoders, it uses the internal ones.

i do have a deocder on the list of h.264 called "microsoft dtv-dvd". i guess this is the one. any idea what i should do? is there anyway to bypass that? is ther anyway to use the internal decoders of VLC or MPC-HC? cause they both aowk great for me.

i guess i'm not the only on with win7.

thanks again,
Amit

ok, i found a hacking tool that allows 3rd party codecs in win7 but unfortunately it doesn't help Sad

the weirdest thing is that i can record, but can't watch. when i'm trying to watch something i recorded gb-pvr crashes. when i'm trying to watch the same file si recorded using gb-pvr on VLC it works great.

Any idea? Sad

BTW: how can i convert the ts file of the recording to mpeg2 or xvid? (or even mkv)
