Ok, I created a new capture source, scanned, and now i'm getting the zip code prompt, although it seems hit or miss. Anyway, the problems I was having seem to have been resolved. I might note that I had tried this same exact setup on another Win7 x64 box and could not receive any channels when scanning. I just tried it again on that same system and could not get anything. The box that's working is running Win7 32bit. Anyway, not a big deal for me now that i've got channels. Thanks so much for your help!

Delete the Scan Cache file for the capture source. It's located in the Devnz\GBPVR\BDA folder. Then go to "Map digital channels....". It should automatically start a scan and give you the prompt at the end.

I'm having almost the same prob:

Running Win 7 Ult 32bit on (2) PCs (both fresh installs)
Lastest HDHR 20090830 firmware and GBPVR 1.4.7

HDHR Finds about 20 channels and VLC plays them back fine.

GBPVR config setup starts the scan and says it found "8", then proceeds to scanning showing 90+ strength and quality on most and then finishes and and says "No channels found"

I tried changing from the Default frequences to the others listed as well as custom, but none of them find anything at all. Default is the only the shows any channels exist.

This is happening on 2 PCs both running Win 7 32bit

Also this may be of interest, Windows Media will only find 8 channels as well and they work, but I can't add anymore....

I've also attached my logs from 1 PC you may find a similarity between goplaycheckers and mine.

"Default cable frequencies" would be the only option that finds anything in the scan (after running HDHomeRun Setup) due to the way the HDHomeRun BDA drivers work. To tune any channel higher than 69, you have to tune by frequency and not channel number or the driver rejects the tuning request. HDHomeRun Setup writes a new qam.ini with the frequencies of good channels that it finds. qam.ini is read when using the "Default Cable Frequencies" option in GBPVR. All the other options will use channel numbers instead of frequencies and the HDHomerun will ignore the tuning request.

As for not finding any channels during the scan when using the "default cable frequencies", try adjusting the following in config.xml:

Code:
<BDAPsiScanStartupSeconds>5</BDAPsiScanStartupSeconds>
  <BDAPsiScanWaitSeconds>25</BDAPsiScanWaitSeconds>

This will make GBPVR wait a longer period of time for the PSIP data to arrive and it should help.

Yea I did that above BDA modification before I posted last night.

Yet the question still remain why is the GBPVR detecting 8 active channels and never following through.... But Windows Media only find 8 channels, but not let me add more. This sounds related to me?

I am glad I found this thread as I have the same problem.

After making the config.xml changes, I am able to scan and find channels. What's interesting is that it finds many many channels listed as frequencies. I guess these are encrypted channels. I have to wade through them to find my unencrypted channels. Nothing ever shows in the preview window.

Now after I complete the mapping, I do not get any video on pvrx2. And when I change channels in pvrx2, the channel does not change in the HDHomerun config GUI. I can view using VLC from the HDHomerun config GUI.

Note that I have turned off my firewall for these tests even though I manually added pvrx2 to the firewall.

What's next ?
