I guess I misunderstood the meaning of "enable". What, then, did you mean here? Quote:It wont show a channel in the TV Guide unless its enabled in one or more capture sources. And, if the channels are showing up in config->channels, but not in the capture source listing, what does that mean? Anyway, here's what is: SYFY showing up in config->channels as SCIFI, but it's there ABCF showing up correctly Neither shows up in capture sources Neither shows up in the guide at all So, where from here?

I said you should 'delete SciFi and SyFy channels from all capture sources'. You said you already had ('there is none'), to which I replied 'It wont show a channel in the TV Guide unless its enabled in one or more capture sources', meaning I'm pretty sure its still there and enabled in one or more capture sources. I didnt say you should add or enable anything - I was saying I think you already have it there and enabled.

Okay, I'm pretty much lost with this. I hope there's a next step short of nuking the whole thing and re-installing. Naturally, I am not anxious to do that, but, with the holidays coming up, I would like it working properly.

Personally I would go for the nuke. Take it slow and build from the middle up! Sometimes this is the easier solution and actually helps to get a better grip of GBPVR......

So, hours and hours of time by me and the good people here, and I still wind up having to nuke it and start over. All because SciFi (& ABCF) decided to change its name. Seems the trouble is way out of proportion to the cause. As far as starting over goes, it took me weeks to get things working properly to start with. Lots of little things - codecs, etc - don't remember exactly, and that's the trouble. I just don't have that kind of time now. If I have to lose a channel ever so often when one decides to change the name, and there is no way to fix it, then so be it. GBPVR is still great even so. Just seems to me we should be able to change the dadgum name(s) somewhere and get it to work.

Dadgum it all!
I understand your frustration. I have spent days, sometimes weeks, waiting for an answer on this Forum. More often than not answered with a solution. And let's face it this is the friendliest Forum out there. 1) Don't get me wrong solution may be provided as above. 2) It seems to me that there is something messed up in your .db and from experience this is hard to fix, at this point I have found re-starting all over again is a good option. 3) If you were to go my route (which I'm sure some others wouldn't agree with) have a system back up solution (I use Acronis) so if it all goes horrible wrong you can just flick back to last back up. 4) By doing this then you become a wiz at helping with GBPVR support........ Having said all of this just seems to me to be a hiccup with your channel line up etc so over to those that know. Somethings not right in your line up but you'll have to take it at each stage to know where you're at. As I wrote I don't think you can fully delete the SciFi channel if you have recordings for , and your db shows some

I'll look into that tomorrow, and I guess it goes where it goes. You won't be able to fully delete it (yet), but here's what should happen. Next EPG update should see the SyFy channel in your XML file and add it to your Guide as the next available channel number. Then you change the channel number of SciFi from 67 to anything else, change the new SyFy to 67 and you're done. Once you've watched and deleted the old recorded programs (which will still be labeled with SciFi, not SyFy) and any recurring programs, you'll be able to fully delete it. Until then, you can simply disable it. You'll need to redo your recurring programs. I stopped going through that process a while ago. The much simpler fix is simply to change the "name" field in the CHANNEL table of gbpvr.db3 from SciFi to SyFy and you're done. Use SQLiteSpy. It connects all your old recordings and recurring programs to the new name. It's easiest to do this step before you see SyFy appear as a new channel, but it's pretty easy after that, too. Don't nuke. Just check that SyFy has been added as a new channel (if it hasn't, then you need to get it into your XML file by enabling it, listing it in the .chl file or whatever) then post your gbpvr.db3 and I'll fix it. I'll just relabel the old SciFi, remove the new SyFy and you'll be all set. It will keep all your old recordings as SyFy recordings and all your old recurring SciFi progs as recurring progs on SyFy. BTW, an alternative way to solve this for those who use mc2xml is to use the rename file and simply rename SyFy to SciFi in the XML before GBPVR gets hold of it. Then, GBPVR never sees the SyFy name. I like changing the name in GBPVR's database to match the new name in the XML file, rather than changing the XML, but both will work.
