I woke up this morning to a new problem. (Just once, I wish I could clear up an "old problem" without a new one joining me). Regardless of what renderer I use, PVRx2 now plays in a "slow and jerky" manner. The effect is so bad that the lips are often out of sync by a full second, and the image will then "jump" as if to catch up with the audio. I can clearly see what look vaguely like interlacting lines, and high-action scenes are virtually unwatchable due to blurring.

This seems to be based on some sort of "slowdown", as even when using the menus each option responds slowly, and dialogs "jerk open". However, I initial investigation points to PVRx2; the video seems to play fine (or, as well as it ever plays) in Media Player and Media Player Classic, and the system response time outside of the PVRx2 interface seems normal.

A full virus scan shows only some tracking cookies that were successfully cleaned. Does anyone have any ideas?

I am getting desparate. Here is what I have tried:

- Comprehensive virus scan
- Comprehensive spyware scan
- System restore to the day before the problem
- System restore to a week before the problem
- Resetting all the transfer channels to DMA

No matter what I do, the video continues to have the problems I've described. It was perfect yesterday; awful today. If anyone even has a randomly-brainstormed suggestion, I will take anything right now.

-did you restart (HT)PC ? (i think yes...)
-try run GB-PVR in window and check CPU usage (if some other procces didnt eat CPU power).
-try disable Antivirus.

Does it run better when it's been sitting off for awhile? And then after awhile the stuttering kicks in? I just had a similar problem when displaying HD video and realized my video card was overheating. It would run fine for a minute or two and then the stuttering would start. I put a slot cooler in next to the video card and the stuttering problem went away.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I'm on about my 500th restart.

Disable antivirus? Is this to save processor power? If so, it has never been necessary before.

Good idea about checking usage. Will do so when the next restart is complete. However, usage is very low (3% - 9%) When PVRx2 is not running.

I have now additionally tried uninstalling and reinstalling my video card, to no avail. What could have caused this literally overnight?

Antivirus can run background check, but if you have not any problem before, then looks like problem is somewhere else...

Just observe - CPU, disk and RAM usage, if there is not some "overloading", etc.

Hmm. Interesting thought. It had been in S3 Standby for awhile about an hour when I first discovered the problem, but could have been retaining some heat. I confess that I have had it on ever since--around 18 hours, now--in an effort to scan for problems, etc. I will see what happens after it has a "night off".

Do you remember if the problem was visible in the menus, also, or just when video was playing?

Do you have your video or audio decoders set to 'system default'? If so, the system default may have changed, through a change to some other app (install/uninstall etc).

Video is set to Intervideo. [EDIT: Audio is set to AC3Filter]. I will check Audio, although I am quite sure that no installations or uninstallations occurred on the night that this struck.

OK, I can't check. Due to problems described here:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post357994

I can no longer see anything on my monitor. Up until this morning, it was always a matter of getting into, then out of, standby to bring the monitor to life; now, nothing I try will do so.

For the same reasons, I can't test the heat theory, either.

However, here is what I determined over my long, long night. During one of the few times that video appeared immediately on a reboot, PVRx2 loaded and appeared to behave normally. A few seconds later (too soon to try playing a video), the screen went black. This appeared to be an "active black" screen, not a blank screen, as the TV's screen-saver did not kick in as it normally does. I was able to ALT-f4 out of PVRx2 back to my desktop, which was visible, but when I restarted PVRx2 the slow, stuttering interface had recurred as above.

This happened twice througout my many trials in the night. During the others, I could not see what was happening until after coming out of standby, due to the video issue.
