VMR7/9 Closed Caption, etc?

Can someone explain what VMR7/9, Closed Caption, FFDSHOW actually mean along with advantages / disadvantages.

Close Captions is the US name for subtitles, usually for the hearing impaired.

FFDSHOW is a third-party filter that can be used to perform all sorts of transformations on the video signal just before it display on the computer monitor. Stuff like scaling the image to different sizes, altering the contrast/colours, sharpening the image etc... For more info, search for FFDSHOW on google - its a complicated topic with whole websites devoted to it.

From memory you are using an MVP. None of these topics have any effect on the MVP, and all relate to playback on the PC monitor.
