Hi,

Is it possible to use two Nova-T USB tuners on the one machine? I've been trying for hours but can only seem to use one of them. When I try and watch something on the server or the client that is fine, but if I try and use both at the same time I'm told not enough tuners are available.

Thanks

When you set them up as capture sources in the config app you may have to set one as device #1 and one as device #2 in the digital properteis.

Whoa! Cheers for the fast reply!

Gave that a try without any joy. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that this is a limitation of the driver. Oh well, looks like I'm maybe back to the drawing board!

It depends on the devices. These days most devices have drivers that allow multiple tuners, but there are still some about that only allow a single device. You can of course mix different types of DVB-T tuners though, so you dont have to use all of one type.

I'd ask over at the Hauppauge forum - someone must have tried it and can confirm or deny if it is possible and what driver might work. Don't forgot to mention the full model number though. http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/index.php

Hi, has anyone had any success with this since?
I'm using GBPVR v1.4.7, with 2x usb Nova-t's and they're showing up as type 2, 3 and 5 using the digital tuner plugin.

Thanks

Reproduce the problem, and post the logs and I'll take a look.

Cheers sub! Hope that these are what you're after.

Tried to reproduce the problem watching live tv & then scheduling a few recordings through the web interface. The 1st device seems to be referenced by both tuner entries?

Thanks again Smile

I know what the problem is. This is one of very few devices that change the filter names (driver names) for each instance of the device.

NextPVR would automatically be able to use both tuners.

For GBPVR you'd probably need to add the following to your bda.ini file.

[Hauppauge Nova-T-Stick type5 (instance#2)]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER="WinTV Nova-T Stick DVB-T Tuner (Dev2 Path0) "
FILTER_CAPTURE="WinTV Nova-T Stick DVB-T Capture (Dev2 Path0)"
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

For the second device, you'd need to select this new entry, as device #1. (ie, both capture sources would be device #1, but selecting a different device).

Personally, I'd just go with NextPVR.

Thanks Sub,

I gave that a try but no joy, after changing the BDA.ini, failing to get the result I was after, then reverting I couldn't get any channels picked up on a rescan on either tuner Sad

Per your advice I got NPVR installed, but It still can't start my second Nova-t 70009 usb guy.

My conclusion is that I have a dodgy tuner I guess, It did come at the cheapest price I could find from Amazon.

I'm a heavy MVP user from a prior GBPVR box that died a good few months ago and so I found a few issues, as the new version doesn't seem to have an immediate way to set the target recording file type to MPEG or up the buffers (I know MVP's are long in the tooth these days anyhow).

I think my best option right now is a different vendors tuner as a 2nd recording device along with the legacy GBPVR 1.4.7, so I did a full clean 1.4.7 install in the meantime.

I'll probably make the NPVR jump in future as it looks very slick and well engineered, but this as is a christmas holiday install I'll need a bit more time to get my head around the new version. and where to go to make tweaks for my MVP setup etc.

I've installed a pretty old Freecom DVB-t usb device I had gathering dust here in the mean time, which is working, but also pretty flaky & reminding me why it went in a big computer junk box a few years ago.
