Yes, it makes a file with correct looking size and the real surprise is that even recording of HDTV channels (that deliver the "no signal" error) is possible. The channel I've tested is only configured for the TerraTec card. I've recorded some minutes and could even play the recording in GB-PVR. After that I tried tuning to the mentioned channel in the program guide but again got the "no signal" error.

Has anyone got an idea why recording works but live TV does not?

I'm guessing its something to do with the decoder. Some versions of the Cyberlink decoder are useable in 3rd party apps.

Have you checked the tuner status while recording/live-tv to see that you are actually using that card?

I've tried different codecs (ffdshow, ATI decoder), all with the same result.

Yes, I verified that it was the TerraTec card that did the recording. I've disabled the channel for the Technotrend card and also looked into the log file. I could also upload the log file, if it helps.

Have you tried the SAF pack by Hoborg, seems to be a quick way of playing with filter setting stuff.

If card is working with MPortal you should get it going with GBPVR.

I have attached my logs hoping they are of any use.

What I did (and should be in the last logs) was that I started watching live TV on an HDTV channel and again received the "no signal detected" error. After that I tried recording the same channel for some seconds, stopped that and played the recording. That was successful. I tried to watch live TV on the same channel afterwards, with the usual result - "no signal detected".

I hope it helps.

By the way, thanks for all the help! Smile

Not yet, I'll try it tomorrow. It's a bit late here...

Did both your cards scan OK and find all the channels? I was only wondering if you have copied or types the HD strings in, as I have found that different cards need different tuning info.

For SD my Compro card works fine with;
T:11261,H,27500,0~TSID:2301~P:52105~V:2312~A:2315~PMT:263~E:T~LCN:257~PCR:2312~N:>Zone Horror
But for HD it needs more info;
T:10847,V,22000,56~NID:32~ONID:2~TSID:2050~P:6940~V:5500~VTYPE:H264~A:5501~L:eng(AC3)~PMT:258~TXT:5503~PCR:5500~N:>BBC HD (AC3)

Maybe recording the stream it is not so fussy...

This sounds similar to my DVB-T issues - the channels I cant see in LiveTV but can record/playback/timeshift are H264 although SD not HD.

I found for DVB-S time share channels that the recorder was actually more fussy than the LiveTV tuner. I could watch Cbeebies with the BBC4 tuning string in LiveTV but it wouldn't record until I'd rescanned it and got the correct PID etc. That said, I dont have any tuning issues with DVB-S like I do with DVB-T and these H264 channels that I can record and not watch live, so what do I know?!
