Some of my recordings are Dolby Digital (2 and 6 channels). When played through GBPVR on PCH the sound is output as PCM to my receiver. However, when I play the same file directly through PCH the output is DD. Is there a way to ensure that DD is output as such through GBPVR? Thanks.

If you are running the current version of mvpmcx2 it should enable ac3 pass through if you have setup your PCH for it on the setup page. Are you playing ts or mpg files, since it might only work well on mpeg-ts files. My digital receiver is boxed away so I am not in a position to test this right now.

I am a bit confused because in your recent thread on volume you said you where having volume problems with RCA analog which doesn't do ac3. You absolutely want 0db on pass through or you won't get any sound.

I just switched today moving from my PVR to PCH as my main system. I have enabled AC3 pass through on the PCH which works fine otherwise. I am using ts files. I am at 0db. The same ts files play fine with pass-through DD to my receiver when played through PCH.

I installed on 11/24 using the latest file. I do not believe it has changed since.

Thanks.

I still feel you don't have the latest version of mvpmcx2, why don't you just download the latest & then compare file dates to be sure?

You are right! For some reason the installer I downloaded on 11/26 had the 10/7 file, I updated the file with the latest one (only one file mvpmcx2) and all is good. Thanks a lot.

Odd, mvpmcx2 is actually downloaded from the server by NMT Install and the old file wouldn't even have been available. Glad this work this might help with volume and skips due to GBPVR problems too you wrote about. and maybe your family will like it more now too.

They do. I just had to work things out.

The only real difference at this point is the slower than immediate response when it comes to using the remote control. Understandably there is a slight delay given the client-server nature of the application. It just that the family have been using the PC-based GBPVR for years. They tend to do double presses on PCH ending up in the wrong place (I just removed the front plate back paint on PCH in front of the remote sensor and the difference is huge, so no more worries the button press did not make it)

First part is navigating the menus, and then during playblack. Playback controls (skips etc) are faster with the PCH especially when trying to navigate the video to find a particular spot. It appears that only ts files, or those with comskip files, are controlled through mvpmxc2, other files are handed over to PCH. I presume that no comskip functionality is possible if the file is played back by PCH.

As for navigating menus, I am wondering if the choice of the skin would make a difference.

This is all just nitpicking, otherwise the application works great.

This is the second report of this I have now read, for me I can't actually notice any difference between using the PC or my NMT's when it comes to navigating the menus etc. actually thinking about it for doing all the normal stuff I wouldn't think anyone could tell the difference if they didn't know they weren't using the PC. I think I remember reading that you are using wireless network?

I think Martin has reported this in the past, one good thing about skins is you can have a number installed at once without causing any problems, so there is no big issue to try a different skin to see if it makes a difference (I have 5 different skins installed on the server at the moment)......I currently have the server running sub's blue skin, the MVP's are running Blue-Retro-SHV & the NMT's are on Blue-Retro-HV......the only thing I would recommend is to change which skin you are using through the config program not the setting screen as the settings screen has a bug.

I had the front off my A100 recently & found the remote worked HEAPS better with it off....but I don't think the WAF would have been very high if I had left it like that......what did you use to remove the paint?

I find that navigating an MVP or NMT client via the remote, does take a bit of getting used to and yes the skin helps. Mayhem3 and Slick can be slowest. Use of metadata for video also can have an impact. For me the biggest recommendation is to learn that typically Prev and Next can skip by page except for the EPG (see the wiki for the keystrokes)

I have no desire to try and duplicate non-mpeg playback in mvpmcx2 so yes these go to the NMT player. If you prefer this player for GBPVR recordings (without comskip or location storing) it is available by hitting, USB the Play

Thanks. The skin is the culprit, I switched to blue and I cannot tell the difference. Fantastic. If there is anything more basic than blue, I would prefer that.

My question was about playback of recording through NMT. I tried the USB button on the remote, but it does not work. When do you actually press it? during playback, before? I tried a couple of places, it either does nothing or exit mvpmcx2.

As for removing paint, I took out the face plate, and used paint/stain remover, just a little on a q-tip to make a circle. You cannot tell from looking at it. Now no more pointing the remote at the NMT anymore.
