Just make sure that you have an option for them to return to the main menu then.

Internally Back (backspace), isn't defined anywhere in GBPVR to get you to the Main Menu, that is the Esc. It is confusing because the key labeled "Back" on the Hauppauge and MCE remote actually generates Esc.

If you're using the MCE remote, you can use PBS guide to using the remote without any software. I believe you should be able to map the keys for whatever function you want.
I have the HP MCE remote and I was able to map all the buttons to work with GB.

I verified this with ShowKey.exe GBPVR does respond to it by going back to the main menu.

So you see Delete as BrowserBack?

Using ShowKeys.exe, here are the following mappings:
Back = BrowserBack Clear = Esc * = +D8 (= Shift + 8 = #) # = +D3 (= Shift + 3 = *) So I guess you could use Clear or Back.

I stopped being lazy and hunted out my USB ir receiver and installed an MCE remote (I wish I didn't, Vista was kind enough to renable MCE for me) and unfortunately GBPVR maps both Back and Clear to Escape.

Using pBS's method of modifying the registry as recommended by mbox, there are many more possibilites with with MCE remote. I think I will move this discussion there http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=43135
