On a testrig with server 2003 I have installed a TechnoTrend 1501-C with GBPVR and softcam. This works perfectly, even better than my "production" machine with the same card and a Alphacrypt HW Cam.
I am also testing out DVBLogic TVSource because this program can emulate up to 4 tuners and pass on the decrypted streams to WMC, MP and in fact to any media program. The advantage is that every card has its own instance and plugins for decrypting Smile
The virtual tuner is properly recognised (after adding it to bda.ini) in GBPVR. I have made a simple 0010.ini file to describe the transponder streams. Scanning of the channels work but all come back with the channel description Channel Unknown.
I have read on another forum that it could have to do with the fact that GBPVR does not understand unicode in SDT packets (0x11 followed by a unicode string). Other programs don't have thos problem is what I heard.
Anyone who can shine some light on this?

This is very interesting software! If this would work, there's no more need for sub to change the mdapi interface to support more than one instance of an mdapi plugin.

It realy works as advertised. I am using the new version 2.0. Only drawbacks:

- is limited to 4 physical and virtual dvb-c/t/s tuners but that is not a problem for me (yet);
- GBPVR does not understand the channelnames due to the use of unicode. I had to fill in the correct names in the cache file;
- you have to make your own transponder list for GBPVR but that is a relative simple job because frequencies are in sequence, i.e. 10000, 10010, 10020 etc.;
- it is a commercial package (about 29 euro incl. TVA);
- it is not yet able to make more than one recording from the same transponder stream. It was promised but could not get it working. Have put this in the DVBLogic forum.

I hope that Sub has a solution for the "Unknown" channel names. That would already solve a lot.

BTW: some people have reported succes to link 2 virtual tuners to 1 physical tuner (on Tweakers, well known to you Big Grin )

Chris: DVBLogic has just released today a program to generate a transponder file for each of the tunercards. I had already created an Excel program this morning to create just such a file. Was wasted time Sad but at least this item can be removed from the negative points.

Sub: any idea what is true about the unicode in the channel scan? Can you solve it and do you need some additional info?
BTW: have donated again some money today to put a little pressure on this Big Grin

There is some changes in the next release which might help the scanning.

Is a patched or test version of config.exe already available? Would be happy to try it out on my test rig.

Sorry, no there isnt. Lots of stuff has changed, so you'd need more than a patch. I also changed versions of the Visual Studio development tools I use, so I can no longer produce binary compatible patches. (ie, needs different runtimes etc)
