Whurlston,
I tried the zip file that you sent. When I ran the install file, I got a "Cannot open Service Control Manager" error. It looked like it was installing a driver and when I went to the control panel an Avermedia M039 tuner was listed. When I went to Config, it listed no tuners installed. It is possible that this was a leftover installation from when I tried some of Avermedia's files previously.
The following files were installed:
C:\windows\system32\drivers\ksthunk.sys
C:\windows\system32\USBAVCap.sys
I didn't write down the driver version, but it was dated 2008.
I uninstalled the driver and then plugged in the tv tuner again. This time, I went to the Control Panel and picked the directory where your files were located. It installed the following drivers and recognized the tv tuner as a Toshiba. When I went to config and did a channel scan, no channels were found.
Here are the files that installed during this process:
Driver vers. 1.3.64.67 dated 5/10/2007
Files: AVTVRate.dll
BdaSup.sys
Ksthunk.sys
USBAVCap.sys
MVDetect.ax
Maybe the initial service contron error is something easily corrected. I appreciate the effort you have put into this, but I hope it isn't taking too much time. I may just have to use this on a smaller laptop, or just sell it to someone with a 32 bit system.
Let me know if the error messages make sense.
Gary
